Chapter 7

Marigold's POV

I wake up bright and early and I smell the most delicious scent I could imagen fresh rain with lemon. Wonder where it's coming from? Must have rained last night and maybe there is a lemon tree nearby. I jump from the bed in a really good mood. Aurelia is prancing in my head her tongue hanging out. I guess we are both in a good mood I chuckle at her silliness. I head into the bathroom to start my day as my stomach is demanding food. It's funny if you are not used to eating your stomach eventual gives up but once you start eating more it demands to be fed more. I jump in the shower washing my hair and scrub my body. Once done I open the curtain and catch myself in the mirror and see I've put a little weight on, and my skin looks healthier. Instead of pale I have a rosy glow. I dry my body then wrap my hair in the towel making my way into the room. I slip on an outfit then comb and dry my hair. Once done I gather everything, I brought with me and place it in my bag since I'm moving to my new apartment this morning. Ok time to leave and start a new chapter I think to myself. I throw open the door and jump with a squeak.

"What are you two doing here?" I ask Leon and Cane once I can speak.

"Sorry about that Marigold. The rogues were up to something last night and we have been on patrol. We just got done with our rounds and wanted to see if you would have breakfast with us." Leon answered me.

"Oh ok. Sure. I was actually going to go eat then get some groceries for my new apartment before my shift today."

"Perfect little flower. We can eat then we can help you shop and take you to your new place." Cane grins at me then winks earning him a slap to the back of the head. "What did I do?" Leon growls at Cane and I just laugh.

"Do you guys want to just walk to Maw's then we can take your car to the store."

"After you Marigold." Leon says and we head to Maw's. We make it to Maw's and take my favorite table in the back with me facing the door. Maw walks over with a huge grin on her face.

"Well, Marigold seems you have made friends. I knew you guys would hit it off."

"Yes, they are quite nice Maw. They are taking me grocery shopping after we eat so I can have some groceries at my new apartment."

"I heard you rented Linda's apartment. Good for you doll. Now you tell me what you want to eat so you can get that shopping done. I can't have you late to your shift." She grinned and gave me a hug. We all ordered and waited for our food.

"Did you all sort out the rogue problem?" I asked the guys.

"For now. They cleared out. We aren't sure what they were doing probably just passing through. Don't you worry though you are safe." Maw brings us our food and we all eat in silence. After we finish, we say bye to Maw before heading out to get in the car. They take me to a grocery store and follow me around while I gather a few things and then check out. After they loaded the car with my stuff we headed to my new apartment.

"Thank you, guys, so much. I can't for the life of me understand why a beta and gamma would befriend a rogue, but I really am happy you guys did." I tell them as they help me bring in my purchase from the car. I grab both of them in a hug.

"You looked like you needed a friend. I have no idea why you would be a rogue, but I don't think it's from reasons a lot of people become rogues." Leon said to me and Cane nodded his agreement.

"Yeah, you just seem like someone who has had a hard life and need something good to happen for you. Like me." Cane wiggled his eyebrows and I busted out laughing as Leon once again slapped the back of his head. I have become quite fond of the guys. Leon is the more serious one while Cane is funny and a flirt. I have never had a friend, and this seems nice.

"Oh, what time is it?" I ask Leon and he looks at his phone.

"Ten thirty. We'll take you to work and drop you off. We have somewhere we have to be, but we will see you later today." I grab my keys and slip them in my pocket walking out with them to their car closing and locking the door behind me. After a ten-minute drive we arrive at Maw's.

"Thanks so much guys. I'll see you later." I call as I jump out of the car heading into work. Once in the diner I make my way to the back and grab my apron, pen and notebook. Heading back out I start waiting on the tables. It's not to busy right now so I do some extra cleaning that needed to be done while I wait for the afternoon rush to start. I hear the door chime and start my spill. "Welcome to Maw's take a seat and I 'll be with you in a minute." That's when I'm hit with that delicious scent from this morning fresh rain and lemons. I turn towards the tables and see Leon and Cane with some mystery man. He is gorgeous. He's taller than the other two I'm guessing around six five give or take an inch with dark chocolate brown hair shorter on the sides messy but looks good. When our eyes meet, I see he has piercing icy blue eyes. I feel like the air has been sucked out of the room and Aurelia prances in my head hollering mate. I drop the glass I had in my hand and glass shards scatter everywhere. Before I know what, I'm doing I'm running to the back of the diner and lock myself in the employee bathroom. All my life I've been told I'm not worthy of a mate. No one would want me. That my mate will outright reject me especially after he finds out I'm impure. I wrap my arms around myself and pace the bathroom my fear and anxiety spiking. Tears fall from my eyes.

"Marigold, honey it's me Maw. Can you open the door?" I hear her call me, but I can't seem to move towards the door. "It's ok hun. Hold on let me get the key." I hear her leave and come back then the door being unlocked. Once inside she wraps me up in a hug and rubs my back soothingly. "Come on dear let me take you home." She says to me. I don't know how long I was in the bathroom, but she led me out the back door to her car placing me in the car then getting in the driver's side before heading to my apartment. Once there she unlocks the door with my key and helps me into my bedroom. She heads into the kitchen and returns a few minutes later with a cup of tea. "Here hun, drink this it will help." I do as I'm told. I've always been good at that. I quietly drink my tea and softly cry.
