Chapter 7

Your PoV

You lay on your cot, one hand massaging your sore neck. Who knew a masked man had such a strong grip? Footsteps sounded outside your cell, making you sit up. Sapnap came into view, a sour expression on his face as he stopped outside your cell.

"George told me to come give you this." He held out a single loaf of bread, which you reached out and took warily. Sapnap smirked as he surveyed the cell. "Fitting accommodations, eh?"

You rolled your eyes, sighing. "Why don't you like me, Sapnap?" The pyromaniac looked at you, surprised. "I mean, why do you hate me so much? You're not Dream-level of hatred, but you're not George-level of nice either. I know I fought against you and all that but-"

"You took my fire charge," Sapnap interrupted, crossing his arms.

"What?" You asked, nearly falling off the bed. "That's why?"

Snapchat shrugged. "I like my fire-making stuff. Is that a problem?"

You shook your head violently. "No, no, sorry." You paused. "I still have the fire charge, you know."

Sapnap's head shot up. "Seriously? You didn't give it to L'ameburg or use it up?"

"Yep, didn't use it." Your smile faded. "You can have it back. It's not like I'm ever getting out of here anyways." Sapnap stood, starting to walk down the hall. "Thanks for the bread," you called after him.

Maybe Sapnap wasn't too bad. To be honest, you two would probably be friends if you were on the same side. But no matter what, he was your captor and Dream's friend. Both he and George were. No matter how much you liked them or identified with them, they were enemies.

Perhaps they'd be useful, though.

The headache you'd been having all day grew, your head throbbing. At this point, you just wanted to curl up and sleep for a few years. The air was dreadfully cold, and shivers went up and down your spine as you collapsed on your bed. The room blurred and darkened until you were alone in a pool of freezing night.

Dream's PoV

Dream walked back from L'manburg with Sapnap and George. The stupid blond child, Tommy, had offered a duel. The stakes had been high: Freedom for both L'ameburg and Shadow if Tommy won. But he hadn't.

Now, Shadow was permanently a member of the SMP and a key component in winning the war. L'ameburg, on the other hand, was not his. In a last second deal, Tommy had given Dream his music disks in exchange for L'ameburg's independence.

The disks themselves Dream had tucked into his knapsack. They had no physical value, only sentimental value. Tommy, Tubbo, and Dream had spilled much blood fighting over them, and Dream had finally won.

The trio reached the SMP HQ as night started to fall. Dream walked to his ender chest, placing the disks into the void the box contained. Standing up, he left to check on the latest added member of the SMP.

The prison was hot and unbearably dusty. Beneath the mask, Dream started sweating as he reached Shadow's cell. The cell was lifeless and empty at first glance, and Dream's first impression was that Shadow has escaped. Upon closer examination, the bed contained a lump of blankets vaguely resembling a human. Dream frowned, opening the cell door and walking inside.

He pulled back the blanket to reveal Shadow, eyes staring blankly. Dream blinked in surprise.

"Hey, Dream- What the heck?" Sapnap asked incredulously as he walked into the cell.

"She's sick... I think." Dream replied. Darkly, he added, "Unfortunately, this suffering isn't something I did." He cast a disapproving glance at the prisoner. "If she dies, I will be amazingly annoyed that I wasn't the one to kill her."

Sapnap frowned. "I'm going to ignore how psychotic that sounded and theorize that it's side effects of the potion George threw at her."

"HEY!" George shouted, poking his head around the corner. "This is NOT my fault."

Sapnap rolled his eyes. "Wondered how long you'd eavesdrop."

George grumbled something under his breath before coming closer to look at Shadow. "Do you think a health pot will fix it?" he asked. "I mean, we have glistening melons..."

Dream facepalmed, sighing dramatically. "Okay, fine. You two be sappy nurses and fix her. I'm going to grind."

"Noooooooooooooooooo, don't leave me with GEORGE!" Sapnap groaned, blocking a well-placed elbow from Gogy.

Dream's eye twitched. "Just get it done," he snapped, stalking away down the hall.

Your PoV

The world was on fire. For some reason, the forest trees looked more like stone bricks, and the crunchy leaves felt more like a board of wood. A colorful blob moved towards you, but it wasn't pink and red like Techno normally was. The blue and white figure held a swirling magenta potion, which the figure held above you like it was some sort of summoning ritual.

With a loud crash, the blob dropped the potion onto you, and the glass shattered in a starburst of red. Immediately, the world sharpened around you and a sickeningly sweet and familiar smell filled your nostrils. You shot up from the lea- cot, coughing and gasping for air. The smell became so heavy it began to clog your nostrils, dragging you back to a scene you'd never remembered.

The world was black and pale yellow, like a full moon against a blanket of stars. Around you, purple sparks flew through the air and tall, elegant black shapes roamed. You had the sense of dread and fear as a single figure stepped forward, diamond axe slashing down onto a writing black shape. You screamed as the moon-world exploded, leaving only silence and a flash of blinding light.

You came back to the same screams filling your ears and hands grasping at you, trying to pin you down. You shook them off, sobbing as you collapsed onto your knees.

"Shadow? Shadow?" a voice asked worriedly. You said nothing, shaking violently. "Shadow!" the voice yelled. A splash of water smacked you in the head. Your head whipped up, tears running out of the face. A goggled man was crouched next to you, one hand on your shoulder and the other holding a now-empty iron bucket. "Shadow, are you okay?"

You blinked your eyes rapidly, wiping the tear-trails away. "I don't know." You raised you head, eyes meeting his as you took a shuddering breath. "I don't freaking know."
