Waking up before Jess was a rare thing for me, especially as I'd spent nearly all night messaging Henry, before I eventually fell asleep, only to wake up to a 'Morning beautiful' text which made me heart soar.
I got up, threw my hair into a messy bun shoved on Jack's old jumper, ok I know I shouldn't have kept it, but I've had it for over 3 months so technically it's mine, and I love big jumpers, especially guys jumpers, even Jack Brown's jumper.
As well as buying Ben and Jerrys, we brought some breakfast things, and as I was in such a good mood, I thought I'd make Jess breakfast in bed. I'm not the worst cook in the world, but I have had my fair share of kitchen disasters, I still managed an entire breakfast though, even if I did burn a few five pieces of toast! I looked at my masterpiece of waffles and Nutella and strawberries, mini pancakes with golden syrup and banana , crumpets and butter and finally I had enough fruit left over to make a strawberry and banana smoothie.
I was fairly proud of myself as I walked into the bedroom. I found Jess asleep like a starfish in bed. She opened one eye and then both when she saw the gigantic tray of food I was carrying.
"Shit! Scar is this all for me?!"
I scoffed, "No way pig! I made double of everything for us, I thought we could have breakfast in bed?"
Jess winked, "You little cutie! I swear we actually are relationship goals!"
Smiling like a loon for multiple reasons I jumped into bed next to Jess and began to tuck into my pretty damn awesome homemade breakfast.
"Hey, this actually isn't too bad!" Jess said with a mouthful of pancake.
"Why so surprised Jessie? I can achieve anything if I put my mind to it." I winked before glancing over at my phone which had been lighting up with messages from Henry all morning.
"Any messages from a certain Henry Brown this morning?" Jess asked curiously.
I laughed at her nosey nature, "Maybe one or two,"
"One or two hundred more like!"
"Jessie!" I fake gasped, "Have you been reading my messages?!"
"Shock horror doofus, of course I have. How else am I going to get the goss?"
"Umm you could ask me?"
Jess thought over this idea for a few seconds, "And you would tell me?"
I bit my lip, damn this girl knew me.
"Good point, well made. As you were."
We finished our food and then Jess got dressed ready for work. She works part time for her Dad's business, a company which sells chillies, so after dropping Jess off, Jenny drove me home.
"See you within the next day I expect!" Jenny called as she drove off.
I skipped down my lane reading my latest message from Henry.
Henry: Is it strange that I miss you? Spain would be amazing if you were here ;) x
I began opening my gate and looked up, dropping my phone, I fell to the floor.
There on the driveway was our cat. Mum's cat. Older than me. Mum had told me to make sure to keep her in whenever I went out, I forgot to yesterday as I was too busy messaging Henry and arranging to meet Jack. I thought as the weather was nice she'd be alright. But she was not alright. In fact she was the opposite of alright. She was dead.
