I woke up with my head on Jack's bare chest. Not necessarily the greatest place for me to be right now, but a part of me didn't want to move so I stayed there until he began to wake up.
"Morning beautiful," he said as I moved off him. "You sleep ok?" He looked down at his abs as he made the comment, "Hope your pillow wasn't too solid," He winked as I chucked my actual pillow at him.
"Right come on beaut, I smell pancakes so I'm guessing Robby has made his famous breakfast?" He turned and headed for the bedroom door.
"Umm Jack?"
"Mmm?"
"Aren't you forgetting something?" I raised my eyebrows as I looked him up and down, he was only in a pair of boxers and although I wasn't really complaining, I could not deal with all of the questions from Jess and Charlie.
"Oh shit," it finally hit Jack. "I need to change these boxers." He began to strip off further before I threw his t-shirt and a pair of shorts at him.
"On! Now! We don't want people getting the wrong idea...again."
Jack laughed, "Again? You forget that they all had the right idea it was just the wrong timing for you wasn't it beaut? What was his name again?"
I stood there with my arms crossed refusing to speak.
"Guessing someone wants me to carry them down the stairs again, because you know that won't give them all the wrong idea..."
I could hear him laughing as I ran down the stairs to join the others.
~
Jack had guessed right. Jess, Charlie and Robby were all sat round the table tucking into Robby's famous breakfast of choc chip pancakes, and an array of fruit such as strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
Jess raised her eyebrows at me as I sat down and poured myself a cup of tea.
"Sleep alright?" She raised her eyebrows in suspicion of what had happened in that bedroom.
"We slept beautifully, how about you two? Or was there no sleeping involved?" My eyes widened as both Jess and Charlie turned a shade of beetroot.
"Brilliant thank you both kindly for doing that in my bed." I shuddered.
Jack came and sat in the seat opposite to me and winked.
"What are you two winking about?" Now it was Jess' turn to embarrass me.
"None of your business," I tapped my nose to Jess which she took as I was going to tell her later.
~
We finished up our breakfast and whilst the boys were packing up the car with all of our festival gear me and Jessie were getting ready.
"Not too much glitter!" Jess scrunched up her nose as I dabbed some blue glitter around her eyes.
"Jessie, we're going to a festival. There is no such thing as too much glitter."
"Scarlett, I can only see glitter right now! Does that not count as too much?"
"Nope" I winked as Jess stuck out her bottom lip sulking. "Right all done!" I smiled as I placed a bindhi in between Jessie's eyebrows before spraying her with perfume. "You look amazing Munchkin."
"Are you sure it's not too much?" Jess pulled down the flowered playsuit she's borrowed from me with Pom poms around the bottom of the shorts and plaited straps. Jess had a lot of hair so there was no way I was wasting my chances to fiddle with it. Eventually I decided on two fishtail braids either side as well as a flower garland I'd brought at a carnival with her last year. For her makeup I'd brought some fake eyelashes for the pair of us. They were paper cut roses and butterflies which looked amazing on Jess. I'd absolutely covered her in glitter as well as spraying her with body glitter. She looked good, and I had to say I was proud of myself.
~
"I agree with Scar, you look beautiful."
Charlie had appeared in the bathroom doorway and was currently looking Jess up and down. Jess smiled and turned a shade of red.
"Right! Come on Scar! My turn to get you ready!"
I laughed so much I had to wipe tears from my eyes. "No Jessica, never in a million years..."
"Oh come on! You helped me!"
"Yes I did that is true, but as much as I love you Jessica, the hippy look is more my repertoire."
Jessie sighed before chucking my outfit at me and checking Charlie had gone back outside before signalling for me to get changed.
~
"Wow." Jess stood there open mouthed. "Wow.
"Is that all you're gonna say?" I smiled. For once, I actually felt confident with how I looked.
"That's all I can say...wow."
I laughed and turned to Jessie, "Umm Jess?"
"Mmmhmm?"
"Can you put this on for me?" I gestured to the angel wing necklace which was on the side. Sure I had 3 other necklaces on, but this one was the most important to me so I had saved it until last.
"SCARLETT! JESSIE! Hurry up we're leav....holy shit." Jack stopped in his tracks.
"She looks wow doesn't she?!" Jess still could only use that word.
"Is it really ok?"
"It's more than ok! I didn't know someone could look this hot!" Jack clasped his hands over his mouth and turned a shade of red.
I laughed, "Well thank you then I guess."
I smiled until my jaw hurt, before going to take one final look in the mirror.
I was wearing short dungarees with a sunflower decoration all over them, a white vest crop top with pom poms along the hem underneath them and I had opted for no shoes so instead I'd covered my feet in henna and had one ankle covered in ankle bracelets and the other had a flower garland Jess had brought me for my birthday. I had a ring on every finger, as many necklaces and bracelets as possible and I had put earrings in all 8 of my piercings which was a rare occurrence for me as I usually just kept the ones I couldn't take out in but seeing them now I'd remembered why I'd gone through the pain to get all of them done! As for my makeup, it was similar to Jessie's but I had silver glitter around my eyes and had covered my body in silver glitter spray, and the final finishing touches was the mac lipstick Robby had brought me which I wore every day anyway.
I was happy. And ready for this.
I spent a minute thinking of how good everything was at the moment, I had Henry who made me unbelievably happy, I had the best friends in the world, and finally, I had Jack in my life. I didn't understand why Jack was his own separate point, but he did so I ignored my conscience.
I could hear Robby starting the car, so I grabbed my phone from the table, looked in the mirror one last time, and turned for the door. But as I did so, I walked straight into Jack's chest.
"You really need to stop walking into people beaut." Jack clutched my waist, a parallel to how Henry had last week.
"You know....I was thinking..."
"Yes?..." I looked up at Jack through my lashes like those girls do in the movies before the big kissing scene.
Henry, Scarlett, think of Henry.
Jack brought me back to reality, "Why did I ever let someone so beautiful get away?"
My knees began to go weak unintentionally. I'd forgotten how he made me feel when he complimented me.
Henry, Scarlett, think of Henry.
"Just like I've been thinking if I'll ever stop loving you, or will there ever be a time where I don't want you."
He leant in to kiss me and the image of Henry disappeared.
