"Liv, Layla! I'm here!"
Luna had swung open the door to the Baker house, letting herself in and walking through the house, making her way into the kitchen. The trio of friends had agreed on a brunch considering they were all consumed with their own issues and haven't been able to hang out with each other.
"You came just in time for a toast." Layla handed her a glass of orange juice.
"Okay, um..." Liv lifted her cup. "A toast...to bellas before fellas."
Luna clinked her glass against theirs and hummed. "Cheers to that."
"Oh, you do not get to speak," Layla pointed an accusatory finger at her. "I totally saw you and Jordan on a date the other night!"
"A date?" Olivia glanced at her friend with wide eyes. "Hold up, nobody told me about this."
"We did not go on a date," Luna was quick to defend. "After the game, Jordan asked if I wanted to go eat and I said yes. But, he emphasized we were going out as...friends! So everyone calm down."
Layla and Liv shared the same look, knowing that it was just a matter of time before those two fessed up and admitted that they couldn't be just friends with each other.
"Okayyyyy," Liv drawled. "Layla, I'm surprised you're not holed up in the studio this weekend."
"Yeah, I'm taking a break from the studio," Layla answered. "Things got weird between Spencer and Coop last night, and now I'm worried that things are gonna get weird with me and Coop, so—"
"So you're hiding!"
Liv and Luna shared a look, bursting out into a fit of laughter after they had blurted out the same thing to Layla.
"You two share the same brain, and I hate it," Layla rolled her eyes. "But, yes, absolutely. What about you any big plans?"
"Asher has some surprise itinerary planned for this weekend," Liv told them. "Right down to the second. But, he didn't really give me any specifics."
"Aw, Asher," Luna cooed. "Who knew he was romantic?"
Liv nodded, not looking entirely thrilled. "Yeah, we haven't had much alone time lately, so..."
"Well, amen to alone time," Layla nodded her head.
"Wait," Liv paused. "What about Spencer?"
"Um, he left to his family cabin," Layla sighed. "This morning, to clear the last of the boxes and his head, I guess. I offered to go with, but, um, he said he wanted to be alone, so..."
"Well, this is the first time he's been back since he lost his dad," Olivia pointed out. "I mean, is it really a good idea for him to be alone?"
Her question had caused Layla to rethink the idea of letting Spencer go down to the cabin all by himself. "Good point."
