Chapter 3

Max and Lucas lay next to each other in bed facing each other. Lucas scanned Max's face and said, "You really are the most beautiful person I have seen." Max's face turned a shade of red as she rolled her eyes and reached out to touch Lucas's bare chest "You aren't so bad yourself Sinclair" She said smirking. Lucas scooted closer and connected their lips. The kiss intensified and Max slid her tongue into his mouth. They stayed like that until Lucas pulled Max on top of him, she laughed before once again connecting their lips. Lucas really was the only one who could have this effect on Max.

The kiss started to get more intense as Max pulled off her shirt leaving her in her bra and pajama shorts. They kissed for another minute before Max stopped to sit up and make eye contact "is something wrong?" Lucas questioned "we can't do this tonight; we have to get up early. Everyone else is already asleep." Max sighed "I mean trust me I really want to, but you know us, we wouldn't get any sleep." she winked before getting off Lucas and pulling her shirt back over her head. Lucas's eyes widened at her comment before saying "I guess your right we will have time for this another night...... hopefully." Max looked over at him "El told me she and Mike are going to get their own room in California we could do that as well and finish this off." Max said laying back down.

"Of course, Mike and El already have that planed." Lucas laughed "They seriously are so whipped." Max added Lucas let out a chuckle before looking at Max and saying, "Are you nervous about California, like about seeing your dad again?" Lucas questioned Max had talked to her dad and he offered to let her and the party stay at his place for a night or two when they first got to California' "I mean not really, more excited than anything. I just hope he likes everyone, I mean sure a part of me is nervous but oh well." Max told Lucas "Well I'm here if you need to talk about it." he reassured her. Max smiled and cuddled up to Lucas as they shut off the light and fell asleep in each other's arms.

The next Morning El was once again the first one awake but instead of getting up this time she just took in the sight of her sleeping boyfriend. He had a faint smile on his face as he had his arm around her. She got closer and started leaving soft kisses on his neck leading up to his sharp jawline. She knew Mike was starting to wake up now because his grip around her waist tightened and her pulled her in close, she looked up and her honey brown eyes were met with his dark chocolate eyes a smirk grew on her lips as he said, "That's one way to get me up", she giggled and buried her face in the crook of his neck. Will walked past their bed and into the bathroom to shower well Dustin explained that he was going to go and wake up Lucas and Max "Dustin I don't think that's a good idea they aren't really morning people" El told him "Well if we don't get them up now, then we never will" he said exiting the room. El looked over at Mike as he said, "This is not going to end well" El nodded in agreement as she curled up closer to him.

Not even three minutes later Dustin came back holding his forehead and groaning in pain "What happened Dustin?" El question "Well I went in to wake them up and then Max threw a fucking book at my head!" Dustin explained and removed the hand he was holding to his forehead to reveal a big red mark. "oh my god Dustin!" El exclaimed getting up and going to examine his injury. Mike could not hold back his laughter and burst out laughing. Dustin gave him a glare "Shut up Mike" he said, "Mike don't laugh he is hurt" El said concerned "oh El come on, we knew this was going to happen" he defended. Will walked out of the bathroom dressed for the day "What happened to you?" he asked noticing the red mark on Dustin's forehead "Max threw a book at his head when he went to wake them up" Mike explained trying to calm his laughter, but it didn't help when Will also started laughing. At this point, El was also trying to hold back her laughter. She did feel bad for Dustin, but the laughter seemed to be contagious soon Dustin began laughing as well.

After that whole situation subsided Max and Lucas had made their way over to the other room. They all got dressed and ready to go, they decided that it would be a good idea to eat the rest of whatever they had packed for them for breakfast. They were headed to Oklahoma, Dustin's older cousin who is quite wealthy agreed to let them stay with him, so they didn't have to pay for a place to stay while they were there. They all got into the van. Mike offered to drive well El offered to sit in the passenger's seat. Will and Dustin sat in the back well Max and Lucas took the middle seats.

They were a few hours into the drive. They decided to stop somewhere and have some lunch before driving the rest of the way to Oklahoma. They found a nice little diner and they all got out of the van and headed inside. A woman who looked to be in her 50s with kind eyes approached the group. "How many?" she questioned "Six please," Max informed. She smiled and led them to a booth. The group sat down and ordered themselves some drinks. A few orange juices, apple juice, and chocolate milk.

"So Dustin you're going to have to tell me which way to go when we get to Oklahoma so your sitting in the passenger seat," Lucas said, "Okay well my Mom drew me a little map up showing what way to go so hopefully we won't get lost." "You got your mom to draw you up a map?" Mike said raising his eyebrows. "Yes, Yes, I did Michael, would you rather us get lost?" "No, I wouldn't" Mike rolled his eyes causing El to giggle as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer. "Did you guys enjoy your single room last night?" Will asked Lucas and Max "Not as much as we wanted to" Lucas sighed and smirked and Max smacked his shoulder "Well it might have been even a bit better if Dustin hadn't come in and woke us up" Max sighed Dustin rolled his eyes as their food was brought to the table.

Once they had all finished up their food they paid and headed back out to the van. Mike and El were about to get into the back when Max said, "stop right there Wheeler" Mike turned to look at her "I want to sit with El the rest of the ride until we get to Oklahoma" Mike was about to protest but then his eyes met with El's and he could tell that she was silently asking him to not start something. He signed "Okay fine" Max smiled and hopped in the back with El while Will and Mike said down in the middle. Lucas sat in the driver's seat and Dustin sat in the passenger's seat to make it easier to direct when they needed directions to his cousin's house.

Max was in the back with El and was braiding her hair for her. El's hair had grown out quite a bit just past her shoulder. She often wore it half up half down, but she loved when Max would braid it for her. She could do a simple braid, but Max knew how to do French braids, Dutch braids, waterfall braids, basically any braid. It was one of Max's hided talents. Mike kept looking back at the two girls wondering what they were whispering and giggling about. He huffed and turned to face forward like him, and Will sparked a conversation. "I honestly won't be surprised if Dustin gets us lost even though he has a map," Will said. "Me neither" "Will one night, while we are California all of us guys, should go out" Mike suggested "Good idea! I mean I'm sure the girls would appreciate some time by themselves."

Some time past and they were still not Dustin's cousin's house. Lucas pulled over because he wanted a look at Dustin's map so he could get a better insight on what way to go. "Dustin what the fuck!" Lucas exclaimed "What is it? Max questioned concerned. "The Map was upside down we have to go back we made a bunch of wrong turns" Lucas explained. "Oops, sorry guys" Dustin apologized. "Oh my god. So, we are lost?" Will questioned. Were lost?!" El asked beginning to panic tears almost forming in her eyes. "El don't cry we aren't lost," Mike said trying to calm her nerves. "Don't worry El we are just a little turned around" Max explained. "Okay," El said relaxing into her seat a bit.

Mike looked at her as she turned to look out to the window. He could tell she was nervous. She was pinching her wrist with her opposite hand. He knew she did that when she was stressed out. One time during an exam she pinched so hard she started to bleed. "El," Mike said gaining her attention "Yeah" she responded, "Are you okay?" "mmhmm I'm okay Mike, don't worry" "He slowly nodded and turned back around but he had a feeling something was bothering and maybe not just the fact they were not at Dustin's Cousins yet.

After they finally got going in the right direction it didn't take them long to find Dustin's Cousins' house. They pulled into the driveway and the house was huge. They all exited the vehicle grabbed their bags and headed to the front door. Dustin raised his hand and knocked. They heard footsteps coming from the inside then the sound of locks unlocking. The door opened to reveal a tall handsome man with curly hair identical to Dustin's. "Hey, James!" Dustin exclaimed "Hey dusty! Glad to see you found your way here nicely" James said as he opened the door wider so the group of teens could enter. Dustin introduced the group to his cousin. James told them that he had four rooms that they could stay in. Will and Dustin were happy about this seeing as they could get a bed to themselves for a night or two.
