Story: The last attempt
If the Maw itself wasn't just a restaurant, it's hidden chambers also seemed to be an orphanage. An orphanage that is more of a prison than anything else.
Though most children tend to behave the rules of the Maw, there were some who tried to escape, but most were never seen again as they were either killed or recaptured and were put elsewhere.
One little boy stood out among the masses of children locked away in this nightmarish prison.
Countless times he tried to escape but he always ends up getting recaptured and brought back to his bedroom. He was nearly on the brink of losing all hope of escaping, until the day he met a certain girl.
He usually sat in the cafeteria alone most times. He was just a kid who nobody tends to notice as he's always silent to everyone, mainly keeping to himself.
The cafeteria tables are long rows of chairs mostly, but he always sat alone as said until the day a new girl came into the Maw who he had never seen before.
She had her tray riddled with different kinds of foods that every kid knew is disgusting, and she sat at the same table as him but kept her distance. Her clothing was ragged as if it was taken from the garbage.
He saw how she looked miserable or broken in a sense of hope as she poked at her food with a fork. Her eyes looked like they weren't looking at anything, just looking straight ahead at where her head faced. She reminds him of himself, seeing as to how lost or hopeless he began to feel of escape.
Trying to not sit there awkwardly he figured she could use someone to talk to. She seemed she just got here but probably not of her own decisions. He then started scooting himself closer without making a noise until he was a mere foot away, and he spoke.
R.k. (Runaway kid): Hey.
She jumped from being startled as her eyes her shot wide open.
R.g. (Raincoat girl): Wh-what? O-oh! Sorry, I didn't know you were sitting here.
R.k: Ah, don't worry about it. Really, it's perfectly fine.
