Ashling's POV

Tuesday.

One week since my fight with Kaen.

Our interaction yesterday was... nice.

He didn't look angry, and he seemed genuinely concerned with me. He offered me his water... and didn't get mad when I put my head on his shoulder. I didn't even mean to do that, honestly. My head just felt so heavy, and I was on the brink of passing out.

And then he put his hand on my thigh.

I remember noticing that his hands were fairly large, especially in comparison to my leg. It was so unexpected... I don't know why he did it, but I'm not complaining. I was too busy focusing on trying not to pass out to actually enjoy it, anyway.

Del and Kaen walk into the classroom together, sitting down in their seats.

"Hey, Kaen."

"Hi." He says without looking at me.

"Hey, Del."

"What's up, blue?"

"What did you just call her?"

"Blue. It's my nickname for her, cuz' you know... she's got blue hair."

Kaen rolls his eyes, "Yeah, I get it, thanks." and continues scrolling on his phone. I look at Del and he shrugs, then talks to his other friends.

"Hey... I just wanted to apologize for yesterday, for like, basically passing out on you."

"Whatever."

Back to his cold-self again, I see. I don't get him. He's nice to me one day, then cold the next... I wish I could understand him more.

"Ughhh... I don't wanna be here."

"You and me both, Kita."

"Wanna hangout after school?"

"Oh, I can't. I have a doctor's appointment."

"Ooh, what for? Just a checkup?"

"Nope, for my brain." I say as I knock on my head. I notice Kaen look in our direction when I say that, but he doesn't say anything.

"Oh, gosh, that's scary."

"Nah," I chuckle, "I've been in out of doctors offices and hospitals so many times, I'm used to it."

Kaen doesn't speak to me for the rest of the class, and leaves before Mr. Asano can even finish saying that we're dismissed.

I debated asking him if he's okay again, but I don't want to push his buttons... so I just leave him alone.

"Hey... don't worry about Kaen. He's fine. I honestly don't know what's gotten into him lately." Del says to me as we're walking down the hall.

"Oh... right."

How did he know I was thinking about him? Is it really that obvious?

My doctor's appointment is so that I can get new medication for my migraines, but I also need to get an MRI for my brain. I really hope nothing else is wrong with it.

I hate coming to the doctors. Not as much as I hate hospitals, though. They're both filled with terrible memories.

I lay on the MRI table, and let the giant magnet do its thing.

My mother and I anxiously wait for the doctor to come back into the room with my results. My Mom said that if anything else was wrong... I was done at that school.
