Thirty Eight

Kaen's POV

"If you don't love me, then kill me."

She stops, turning around, "I didn't want to do this, but it looks like I'm going to have to."

Ash releases her wings, causing all of us to gasp.

"Holy shit. She really does have an affinity."

Her wings are fully out... but somethings wrong. I don't know if it's just the lighting... but her wings looked completely different in color. Instead of their normal bright blue and pink color, they were dark and gloomy looking. Somethings definitely not right.

"Let's get this over with."

A big rock is suddenly thrown, nearly crushing us.

"What the hell? How did she just do that?"

"I don't know. She was never able to do that before."

We tiredlessly fight both Menticide and Ash, for I don't even know how long. There's not much fight left in them, I don't know how much more of this they can take. I randomly felt a huge burst of energy before, so I'm fighting like it's nothing... but the others aren't looking too hot. And it's starting to scare me.

Del shouts at her, "Ash, please! Why are you doing this?!"

"Because you said I never would."

Zedd is knocked to the ground, leaving just Del and I standing.

"Give it up, you two. I win."

"Hey, Ash," I breathily say, "If it's true that you don't love me, why would do all of those things for me?"

"What are you going on about, now?"

"I don't believe that everything you've done was just some big lie. You don't... you don't love a person the way that you loved me, and then say that it was all just a game. You could've put in the bare minimum, but you didn't. I would've still loved you, even if you did... because we're fucking soulmates."

Her facial expression changes from anger, to panic and confusion. "Remember earlier today... you bought me that necklace... as a surprise. The silver chain with the dagger? You even had it engraved with your name." I pull it out of my shirt, dangling it.

She rapidly blinks and shakes her head, as if she was trying to remember it.

I'm getting somewhere... I just have to keep trying.

"If you didn't love me, why would you get me this? If you didn't love me, why would you tell me it every single night before bed, and every time either one of us left the house? If you didn't—"

"Shut up!" She screams, causing a high pitched noise and vibration to occur in my ears.

I can't give up yet. I won't.

"Enough of this."

I'm shot at with more wind, my body being thrown at the rocks behind me.

"Kaen!"

I can hear Del scream my name and see him run towards me.
