"We shouldn't be doing this." Quackity said, peeking out of the bush he crouched behind. Karl shushed him.
"We should know where he's been going. We're his fiancés, after all. What if he's cheating?" Karl responded.
"You're just paranoid." Quackity said, rolling his eyes, but he was secretly worried too. Karl punched him lightly.
"Shut up. He'll hear us."
The two kept trailing Sapnap, a man they both loved, finding out where he left every night without a word. He denied it whenever they asked, which only raised their suspicions. So tonight, they decided to follow him, hoping to catch him doing something embarrassing, and not hoping to find him cheating.
They heard Sapnap's footsteps stop, and the two hid behind berry bushed, only hearing the conversation Sapnap began having.
"Hey... babe. I have flowers again. The old ones are looking kinda harsh." He said. Quackity furrowed his eyebrows, angry under the assumption his fiancé had cheated. Karl kept an attentive ear out, waiting for the other person to respond.
Instead, all he heard was Sapnap cry.
"I miss you. So much." He said through his tears, curled up like a ball, head buried in his knees. "I brought my fiancés, today. Maybe you can meet them. I'm sure they'd like you."
Karl and Quackity shot up, surprised they had been caught. Karl ran over to Sapnap, seeing a clean gravestone.
"Sapnap!" Quackity yelled. "What the-"
Quackity saw it last. He sat down, next to Sapnap, eyes fixated on the grave.
"Here lies Y/n. The loveliest person that ever walked the earth"
"Hey guys. Meet Y/n." Sapnap said.
The two stared at the grieving man, watching a tear fall down his face. Karl put his hand on Sapnap's back, running it up and down.
"Nice to meet them." Karl said, slow with his words in his confusion.
"Y/n was someone I couldn't- I failed to protect. They were the love of my life."
Quackity leaned on Sapnap, hurt by the words that came out of his mouth.
"I had no idea... You... What?" Quackity questioned.
"I moved on, Quackity. I'm in love with you two now. I'm happy. But I lost them, and that will always be my biggest regret. Listening to Dream, and letting Y/n die."
Karl nodded. "Well, he's in the prison now."
Sapnap nodded. "And he is never getting out."
The three sat over the grave for hours, listening to the stories Sapnap told, until the sun rose again, and they returned home, closer than when they left their home that night.
