Sapnap had left quietly, before running across the hall to punch the brick with full force. It cracked, but didn't break.

"Sapnap?"

He turned around, looking at George behind him. George smiled at him.

"Y/n is pretty cool, huh." George said. A look of painful realization sat behind his eyes.

"I need to have a word with Dream." Sapnap said. He crossed his arms and leaned back on the wall, not looking George in the eyes.

"Sapnap-" George started, but he was cut off.

"This is just wrong. I didn't expect for Y/n to be so... I don't know, cool? Maybe now that we have Eret, Dream will let them go."

George shook his head. "Dream is pretty set on having them on the front lines."

Sapnap sighed. "Dream can kiss my ass."

George's eyes widened, but he nodded. "Go talk to him then. But... I'd distance myself from Y/n. You'll get hurt."

Sapnap just shook his head. "What happened. Not just the war, before we left the village. Dream was so different. He was our friend. Now, he's like-"

"Our ally." George said. His voice sounded solemn. The two sat in silence after that.

Eventually, Sapnap hauled himself away from the broken wall and walked past George.

"Love you, man." Sapnap said as he walked. George nodded.

"Love you too."

Sapnap made his way to where he knew Dream would be. A room reserved for planning in the east of the base. He spent hours there every day, making a new plan every day, stressing himself out and trying to win.

Sapnap knocked on the door before letting himself in, not waiting for a confirmation from Dream, but a second's notice.

Dream looked up at Sapnap, his mask set on the floor. His fluffy hair covered his eyes, but the stress on his face was still visible.

Sapnap closed the door behind him, shuddering at the solemn energy in the room.

"Dream."

"No."

Sapnap's eyes widened, looking at Dream. Anger swirled in his chest.

"What do you mean, no?"

"I said no." Dream ran a hand through his hair, pulling it back. "I'm so stupid, trusting you not to get attached. You and George spend a minute with a goddamn villager and get all soft?

"Soft?! We have morals, Dream! What goes through your head to leave an innocent to die?!" Sapnap yelled.

"This is war, Sapnap!? What goes through your head, huh? Falling in love with some village twerp?" Dream said. He was on his feet now, standing across the room to face Sapnap in their screaming match.

"We have Eret now! We are going to win! Why do we have to use them!?" Sapnap yelled.

"Regardless of your opinion, Nick," Dream started, using Sapnap's old village name to catch him off guard, "I paid for Y/n. They are my property, and I can do with them as I please, got me?! I could kill them right now, and be completely within my right, but I'll give them a chance to survive in my kindness. They have to get through L'Manburg."

Sapnap's jaw was left dropped for a second, before he tensed it back up.

"You- You are sick, Dream. They're a person, dammit! And what happened to you! It's like you lost everything that made us friends. You aren't Clay! What happened to the kid who misspelled Pandas?! Who ate mud? Where is he?!" Sapnap yelled.

"Then go find him." Dream said. "It's time to make a choice. Are you Nick, the village kid who got bullied every day, or Sapnap, the fighter who left that behind? Because if you can't stop acting like a child, then go home."

Sapnap went silent. After a moment, Dream sat back down, humming an upbeat tune, ignoring his brother still in the room.

Sapnap stormed out, leaning back on the door after his exit. He pulled his hair, letting out a choked back scream.

He was torn between an obligation to his oldest friend, someone who had been with him every day since kindergarten, and not only his morals, but someone he couldn't help but blush at the thought of.

They had barely known each other, and yet every time Y/n smiled, Sapnap's heart skipped a beat. His cheeks grew warm and his ears practically let out fire.

He couldn't handle the fact that they were going to die in two days.

He had two days to either save them, or give them the best last days he could.

And he was always shit at deadlines.
