Should I laugh because we are friends, or cry because that's all we'll ever be?

"So..um..do you wanna kiss?" Danny asked, a smile tugging at his lips. Blood rushed to the apples of my cheeks. "What?.." I answered hesitantly.

He leaned over across my back and grabbed a bag of Hershey's Kisses;the bag was shaped like the chocolate itself. He tore open the bag from the top, and I looked away, embarrassed.

How stupid was I to think that he would've actually kissed me? Very stupid.

We found ourselves enjoying the chocolate under the dim moonlight. I almost missed these precious moments of spending time chilling with just Danny alone. Resting my head on his chest, Danny told the tale of the Man in the Moon. Finally at peace, I felt my heart beat slowly in sync with his.

"Morning princess," A voice greeted me in my deep slumber. Groaning, I pulled my pillow over my ears and tossed and turned in my bed, pulling the covers over my head. "Go away," I pushed something away, and I heard a loud thud moments later.

"Hey, come on, it's about time you wake up," The curtains were opened and I turned around, only to be blinded by the bright morning sun.

"5 more minutes," I mumbled, trying to play dead. Maybe if I played dead, this person would finally leave me alone.

"Fine, 5 minutes, but that's it," Danny sighed.

I was finally able to go back to sleep when Danny started tugging at my blanket, trying to rip it off me.

"Okay okay, I'll get up in 10 seconds," I groaned, covering my eyes from the bright sun shining through my glass window.

I peeked an eye open to see Danny looked like he had finally won the fight of getting me up. Nah, I'm not getting up. I have a better idea.

"1..2...3..4...5..6...7...8," I started off by mumbling into my pillow, "9........9.......9......9....9," I began to repeat.

"Come on, I haven't seen your beautiful eyes since last night," Danny whined, phasing the blanket off my bed.

"Okay, okay, fine. I'm up," I laughed a bit, sitting up from my bed. "What time did I sleep last night?" I held my dizzy head.

"I'm surprised you don't remember," Danny chuckled, dephasing my blanket, "To make the story short, I was telling you a bedtime story and you fell asleep on my chest,"

"Oh," I felt blood rushing to my cheeks again, "Thanks for bringing me home,"

"Hey, that's what friends do, isn't it?" He smiled. Powerlessly, I forced myself into a fake smile. Friends...

Sometimes it pains me to think..maybe that's all we'll ever be...Friends

"Yea.." I felt my heart almost beating out of my chest, and falling onto the floor lifelessly. "Something the matter?" He asked, waving a hand in my vision.

I shook my head, "Oh uh, sorry, it's nothing," I lied.

Danny didn't seem too convinced. "Did you eat this morning?" I stood up from my bed, changing the subject. I began smoothing the wrinkles out of my tank top and sweatpants.
