Chapter 18 In your loving arms

The night was peaceful, with the full moon shining over the castle and music was sounding in the background. You still were at the top of the astronomy tower in the arms of the man you've grown to love. "Did you enjoy the party?" you heard Severus' deep voice ask in your ear. You didn't move from your position as you had your head on his chest,both of you looking out at the Black Lake "Yes... but I enjoy being here with you." the Potions Master hummed at you as you both continued to stare out at the distance.

"(y/n)," he called after a couple of minutes. You looked up at him, you had your arms around his neck while Severus had his hands on your waist. "I don't know where you'd be going after tonight but I was wondering if you would like to stay with me at my house." you smiled brightly at him "If you accept me." you said, teasingly. "Always," he said.

You two kept looking into each other's eyes for a long moment, just getting lost in the other's soul. Then, you let out a heavy sigh and leaned back on Severus' chest "Are you tired?" he asked you "Yeah." you mumble.

Then, Severus took one of his hands off your waist and as he slipped it under your knees, you closed your eyes in exhaustion. He picked you up and carried you down the stairs of the astronomy tower.

The Potions Master's steps were precise and fast, you didn't know where he was taking you but in that moment, you couldn't care less. Suddenly, you felt the temperature drop a few degrees and you curled yourself in Severus' arms. The change in the temperature only made you guess that you were in the dungeons and at that thought, a small smile danced on your lips.

You opened your eyes after a couple of minutes just to see that, indeed, you two were now in the dungeons. Severus pushed open the door to his classroom and closed it behind with his foot, doing the same with another door that was at the back of the classroom. Your long dress brushed against the walls and then, you found yourself in a completely different room that you could only guess were Snape's living quarters.

There was a large couch in front of the fireplace with two armchairs at each side and a small coffee table in the middle, there was also a corridor at your right and at the end of the room was the kitchen. Severus walked down the small hallway in his living quarters still carrying you in his strong arms. He pushed open the door at the end of the corridor just to reveal his bedroom.

The room was dark, with two large windows with black curtains. He had a big wardrobe at your right and there was also a big four-posted bed in the middle of the room where Severus laid you down softly. He walked towards the wardrobe pulling out one of his white button-up shirts and handed it to you. "I'll be outside when you are done." and with that, the so-called dungeons bat left his own bedroom giving you privacy as you change from your beautiful dress to his shirt.

Once you'd done that, with a flick of your wand, that you luckily carried it with you, you removed your makeup. A sigh of content left your lips as the familiar scent of the Potions teacher reached you.

A part of you couldn't believe that Severus confessed to you. What if this was all a dream and you would wake up in the Hospital wing just as any other day. But the question that wouldn't leave your head was: 'How can he love a person like me?'

But as you were thinking that, the exact same question crossed Severus' mind while he was pacing his own living room. 'How can she love a person like me?' He couldn't find an explanation to the question and neither could you.

Suddenly, the door to Severus' room opened softly and you walked out of the bedroom as Severus turned around just to see you standing there, in his living quarters, wearing one of his shirts. A small smile adorned his lips as you walked closer towards him "I thought you were tired." he said as you sat down on the couch.

"I am." you said with your (e/c) glistering under the candle light that lightened the room "Then, why are you not in bed?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at you "Because I wanted to be with you." you said without hesitation. You leaned your back on the couch as a sigh of content escaped your lips. Severus lit up the fireplace with a flick of his wand to warm up the place before sitting down next to you.

"Can you read to me?" you asked him. Severus looked down at you for a moment before grabbing one of his many books that was lying on the coffee table. He opened the book and started to read in his deep and soothing voice. You smiled to yourself as you leaned your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes momentarily to enjoy the moment.

It didn't take long for you to fall asleep on the couch, leaning on your lover's shoulder as he had one arm wrapped around your waist. Severus heard your calm breathing and a small smile plastered on his face, setting the book aside, he picked you up from the couch softly so as to not wake you up, and carried you to his room. He laid you down in the comfy bed before he climbed on the other side, sneaking his arms around you, he pulled you into his chest.

Severus could smell your roses perfume in your hair as he inhaled your calming scent, falling asleep a couple of minutes later as he enjoyed the feeling of having you in his arms.
