Chapter 20 Spinner's End and a Confession

The Potions Master took a deep breath, pondering if he should tell you the truth or not, the truth that you were going to find out sooner or later seeing as you were now living with him. So, he decided to speak and tell you everything, even if it meant you were going to walk away from him.

And as your (e/c) eyes looked at his figure, he said...

"Before I begin I want you to know that I'll respect whatever decision you make after this conversation." you frowned at his words but didn't say a word. Waiting for him to start talking.

Severus took a deep breath as his dark eyes fixed on the fireplace and after some seconds of silence, he said "I work for Dumbledore in a way you would have never expected (y/n)." Confusion washed over you at his words but you let him continue "I'm a spy for the Order while being... a Death Eater." you stared at him, your eyes slightly wide but you managed to say "So you are a double agent? Severus nodded at you as the information sank in, silence fell between you and him

"And... do you have the... the Dark Mark?" you asked unsure if you wanted to know the answer. But to your surprise, Severus rolled up his sleeve just to show you the mark that haunts him day and night "I needed them to trust me so they'd share important information with me. Information that later I passed to Dumbledore." he explained as fear surrounded his heart.

'Were you going to walk out of his life now that you know the truth?'

'Are you going to still love him?'

'Or were you going to pretend Severus was just your teacher and nothing more for the rest of your life?'

These questions and more invaded the Potion Master's mind but his train of thought was broken when you hugged him by the neck so tightly as if your life depended on it. He embraced you back with hesitation as he didn't know what was crossing your mind at that moment and Severus couldn't bear to think of using Legilimency on you without your consent.

"You've been so brave." you whispered in his ear. Those words were enough to bring Severus a tiny smile across his lips. You separated from the embrace and he asked you, still unsure of what your thoughts were about the situation at hand "Aren't you mad?"

You smiled softly "Why would I? Severus you need to be so brave for what you've done and for what you are going to do. There are no words for me to express how proud I am of you." A gleam appeared on Severus' dark orbs as you said those words to him.

Proud.

Someone was proud of him and just anybody, this was you who was proud of him. The woman who owned his heart and soul. The one who cared. The only one who genuinely cared for him. His light. His (y/n).

"You really think that?" he asked and you nodded at him "Yes, and don't worry, I can tell you weren't sure in telling me this but I promise you Severus, that I won't leave your side. I want to spend the rest of my days with you." he pulled you into his arms as a crystalline tear escaped his eye, but you didn't notice it. "I love you." you said, still in his warm embrace

"I love you too (y/n). I love you so much, so much." he said as a smile made its way to your face knowing that he was at ease with the situation and that he trusted you enough to keep his secret.
