It's been a month since Severus lost the light of his life, since the love of his life was taken by a curse, not having a choice in leaving her beloved alone in this cruel world.

Today, the Potions Master finally found the courage to enter what once was his room before you came. He wasn't able to enter the bedroom so he slept on the couch for over a month, each night dreaming with you.

Severus took a deep breath as his hand was in the door knob, he was ready. Slowly, he twisted the knob and the door opened, revealing his bedroom. It was just as the last time he was there, not a single thing was out of place and he would like to preserve it that way.

The black-haired man took a step forward and then another and another until he was full in the room. He didn't bother to close the door behind him, not minding if Ashes, the gray cat you grew to care for, entered the place.

His dark eyes roamed over the bedroom, escaning every object as memories filled his mind like lightning, making his heart heavy with the thought of you.

The gray felline entered the room and jumped on the bed, curling in a ball as the sheets still smelled like you. Severus didn't seem to mind the cat's presence, he was true to his words when he promised you that he was going to look over your cat. Ashes also made him some company, reminding him of the beautiful owner the cat once had.

He walked towards the dresser, your brushes and products were still there. Severus picked up a light pink bottle and inhaled your perfume. The scent made tears sting in the corner of his eyes so he pulled the bottle away and put it back in its respective place.

Severus would never get rid of your stuff as it was the last piece of you he had with him. A plethora of emotions washed over the broken man as his eyes travelled all over the room as the memories he shared with his beloved were too overwhelming.

With slow steps, Severus walked over to your side of the bed, he sat down and traced his hand over the soft and silky blankets. Many memories took place on this bed, how he read to you, how he watched you on your sleep, how he kissed your forehead, how he made love to you for the first time, how he embraced you during the nights, holding you close to his chest as he feared that you would leave him behind, though at the end, that was exactly what happened.

With a heavy sigh, Severus looked at your nightstand, staring at the seashell you found that day at the beach. Your laugh echoed in his ears making it a beautiful torture to the Potions Master as he wanted to hold onto the memory of his beloved (y/n) but at the same time it was too painful to remember you.

He frowned slightly when he caught sight of a piece of paper under the seashell and with a trembling hand, Severus took the shell in his hand only to reveal what looked like a letter. He took it from the nightstand putting the seashell back in its place.

A lump formed in his throat as he admired your beautiful handwriting. There was nothing written on the envelope other than his name Severus in such a delicate way that again, the black-haired man felt how the tears returned to his dark orbs.

Severus took a deep breath, wanting to know what you had written to him, what you wanted to say to him with the letter, so without waiting another second, he opened the letter, his hands unfolded the paper in which he recognized your knitty handwriting immediately.

His onyx eyes started to read over your words, not being able to stop until the end:

My beloved Severus,

If you are reading this it means I'm no longer by your side. Believe me when I tell you that if I could choose to stay with you I would do it, without hesitation.

Severus, the purpose of this letter is to let you know how much I love you. I hope with the little amount of time we spend together you realize how big my love for you was. Sometimes I get to think that maybe I didn't show it that much as you were always caring for me but you were and always will be the only man I ever truly loved.

I also want to thank you for everything you did, you gave me the strength to live until my body couldn't stay any longer, you were my whole world, Severus, and there's nothing I'd change about you as I fell in love with the bravest man that has ever walked the earth.

Thank you for making me smile, for making me feel loved. I'm the world's luckiest woman for having you loving me. Thank you for doing the bucket list with me and I hope you get to do the things we didn't get to do together.

You gave such happy memories that I'll treasure until I take my last breath.

I know you are feeling sad and I'm sorry as I hate to see tears in those beautiful onyx eyes of yours but you must understand, Severus, that I was tired. The pain was unbearable and everytime it got worse. I needed to rest, I wanted to rest but I didn't want to leave you.

Forgive me, my love.

I want you to know that you are loved and that one day, we'll see each other again. That's a promise. But for now, I'll live in your heart and memories, as long as you are alive, I live too.

I'm waiting for you, my love. Be brave, be strong as this is not the end.

Thank you for everything, for every smile, for every kiss, for every second I got to spend with you as if it was already heaven. There are not enough words to describe how thankful I am and how much I love you.

Dry your tears, Severus as this is not our end. I love you for eternity; never forget that, love.

Yours, always, your (y/n)

When Severus finished reading the letter, he wasn't aware of the silent tears that rolled down his pale cheeks. He now understood that it was your time to go, that you were suffering and that the pain was too much.

He found peace in the thought that you were no longer suffering, that you were finally resting from all the pain and weakness you once felt but still, he missed you dearly.

He would always miss you as you, the woman who loved him for who he truly is, was taken away from him and there was nothing he could do to stop that from happening.

But Severus relied on your promise, he knew you two would see each other again but for now, he'd live, carrying your memory in his heart until he too, got to take his last breath.

Severus knew you loved him as much as he loved you if not more. Your love for him was so pure, so genuine and innocent that it was the most valuable thing life had given him and he was going to treasure it for the rest of his life.

You were his angel, his precious gem and even though Severus still felt heartsick at the fact of not having you by his side, he was going to love you for eternity.

The black-haired man put the letter back in its envelope, he was going to put it in the nightstand's drawer but as he opened the drawer, he was faced with the notebook you always carried around, the one in which you were writing your novel.

A soft smile graced Severus' lips as he took the precious notebook in his hands, and deciding to not put the letter in the drawer, he closed it and with the notebook and the letter in his hands, he exited the bedroom as he was going to drown on your memories, memories you wrote down in form of a novel.

And it was nothing more than yours and Severus' story with the ending it should have had. A happy ending.
