You rolled over on the bed, seeking for Severus' warmth like every other night but your eyes fluttered open when you found yourself in an empty bed.
You sat up in the bed slightly frowning as your eyes adjusted to the dark.
Suddenly, you heard some glass shattering downstairs and your eyes widened in fear. You went to grab your wand from the nightstand but you cursed yourself when you remembered you left it on the kitchen's counter as you used it to get the pie out of the oven.
You grabbed your black robe that was lying on the floor and put it on before you started to walk out of the room.

As you neared the staircase, you heard someone's muffled voice along with more glass, you descended the stairs slowly, the kitchen's light was on and when you arrived at the living room, you noticed that the door that led to Severus' study was slightly ajar as the lights were on in that place too.
You approached the door before pushing it open just to reveal the normally neaty room in a complete disaster.
For the last few days, Severus hadn't let you enter his study saying that he was working on some new potions and that he needed his space. You, obviously didn't question his actions and let it be. But right now you couldn't help but look around at the study.
Papers were scattered all over the floor as well as broken glass, staining the carpet below with the contents of the bottle. The desk was filled with loads of different ingredients with even more papers on it.
There were two cauldrons with mixtures you couldn't recognise but what really caught your attention was Severus, who had his back turned to you as he read some notes he made. He muttered something under his breath as he flipped the book, searching for another page. The professor then took a vial that had some orange substance in it and poured it all down in one of the cauldrons.
The potions that was in said cauldron turned black, Severus slammed his hands on his desk, making you jump slightly in your place at the doorway before he threw his stuff off the desk and into the ground, making more glass shatter, ingredients splatter all over the floor and the potion he was brewing to stain on the carpet.
He stayed still as his hands were still on the desk. You watched his every move and you weren't going to say that it frightened you a bit of his sudden rage but there must be a reason behind it.
Severus sunk on the floor as his dark eyes travelled over the mess he made, his notes were spilled with potions he created that night. Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes out of pure desperation but he refused to let them flow.
Suddenly, he felt a small hand on his shoulder and that was enough to let his bitter tears roll down his cheeks. You approached the now broken man in front of you, putting your smaller hand over his shoulder before you crouched down on the floor.
"I'm sorry, (y/n)." he said. You didn't understand why he was apologizing but you decided to not ask at the moment, instead, you opted to hug him as he seemed to really need a hug right now.
Severus let his emotions out as he cried in your chest, he hugged you from the waist as you also had your arms wrapped around him. He loved thee feeling of being in your arms, of you being there for him
"I'm so sorry, my dear."
You ran your fingers through his hair "Why are you apologizing, my love?" you asked in a soft voice. Your question only made more tears escape the Potions Master's eyes but he managed to say "Because I can't save you."
In that moment, realization hit you. Severus was trying to cure you. Glancing down at the papers on the floor you saw that, indeed, he was trying to make a potion that would break your curse.
You put your chin over his head and said in the same low voice "No-one can." a single tear escaped your eye as you said those words.
"You heard what Professor McGonagall said that day at the infirmary; my curse cannot be broken." you looked down at him, placing your hands on his cheeks making Severus look up at you "Don't waste your time, Severus. We better appreciate it." you whispered before you planted a delicate kiss on his nose.
He nodded slowly at you before now you leaned on him as a wave of exhaustion hit you hard. Severus immediately noticed your sudden weakened state and he started to panic as the colours drained from your face "(y/n)!" he exclaimed, as you were close to fainting but he held you in place.
"We better keep our night activities to the minimum." he muttered but you were fast to catch his words, smiling sleepily at Severus.
His desperation from earlier was now replaced by worry as he held your weakened form in his arms "I don't want you to go." he said
"I'm not going anywhere. I'll always be in your heart, Severus." you said, placing your hand over his heart, feeling his steady heartbeat as he held you close to his chest "You promise?" he asked you "No, I swear it." At your response, Severus kissed your lips softly before sliding one of his hands under your knees as he stood up from the floor.
You had your hand still pressed against his chest as he walked out of his study and up the stairs carrying you in his strong arms.
"I like it when you carry me." you said with your eyes closed "Then I shall do it everyday now." he said as you two arrived at your shared bedroom and he laid you down on the soft bed delicately before climbing on his side. I love you, Severus." you said "I love you too (y/n)."
A small smile graced your lips as you leaned your head on his chest with his arms wrapped around your fragile form the both of you dozed off into a dreamless sleep...
