Carla was cold, confused and utterly lost. She had no idea what had just happened, or where she was for that matter. Whatever had happened, want important at the moment. What was important was a way back to her grandma's little mountain home.
She started wander around the icy townscape of igloo's. She started calling out for help, until before long, a pair of fuzzy mittens grabbed her arm. "HEY" Carla shreiked over the whistling blizzard. "Shhhhhh, what do you think you're doing?" The person snapped back, pulling her alongside them.
Carla tried to struggle against their grip, but the freezing terrain quickly wore her out. "Who are you and where you taking me?" She demanded. "Quiet down girl, jeez" the person whisper-shouted in annoyance at Carla, "We need to go to shelter before her bears catch us after curfew".
Carla allowed the person to drag her off, perplexing over what he just said. Staying silent, the stranger whispers in her ear, "Alright, we're at safety now". Carla enters the igloo behind the stranger. "Where am I? Who are you? What curfew? Who's 'she'?" Carla bombarded the person with questions until they take off their winter gear.
"Dude, what are you talking about?" The person asks looking at her. She quickly stopped short.
She eventually looked around the igloo. Turns out, it looked and felt exactly like a normal house. "I thougt this was an igloo" she half whispers aimlessly. The stranger strolls out of the room, leaving Carla with her questions. She wandered, searching her surroundings for an answer. She noticed there was a small shelf filled with disproportioned books. It wasn't too far out of her reach, so her eyes scanned for an object to stand on.
"Hey girl, get over here!" A male voice surged from the other room. Carla whipped her head to the doorway the stranger had gone through. Carla cautiously walked over to whoever had just called for her. She enters into a small, cottage-like kitchen.
The kitchen had black, marble-topped counters, a dull dark grey fridge and a small stove. "Coffee?" The stranger asked blatantly. Without all the winter gear, Carla could take a good look at him. He had sandy blonde hair, jade eyes with a silvery tint, and was wearing fairly generic black T-shirt and jeans. "I don't drink coffee, um, sorry" Carla stumbled to reply. The guy shrugged and gestured her to sit at the small oak table in the center of the room. Carla slowly takes a seat with the boy. "So let's cut to the chase" the guy started in a hoarse tone, "what were you doing in a blizzard without any gear?" He takes a sip of his coffee as Carla shuffles awkwardly. "So close to curfew too" he continues.
"I have no clue" Carla responded honestly "I was getting something for my grandma and then this storm just attacks me. I didn't mean to take long and the weather was fine." "That's the Snow Queen for you" the guy sighed while taking another sip of coffee. "Anyways, what's your name?"
"I'm Carla, you?" She said relieved for a normal topic. "My name is Jake" the guy said coolly "Carla, where does your grandma live? After the Queen's temper tantrum we can bring you back her place." Carla thought for a moment then responded; "She lives mid-way up Stawamus Chief, it's a purple cottage you'd be able to know it right away." Jake stopped mid-sip and gave her a puzzled look "Where in the world is Stavemus (or whatever it's called) Chief?"
"Stawamus Chief, British Columbia? You know, a province in Canada?" Carla asked surprised, as if this were basic knowledge. Jake leaned forward and set down his coffee."What is Canada?" He asks, suddenly intrigued in the girl. "A country...?" Carla said slowly "Where are we?"
"We're in the Snow Counties" Jake answers suspiciously "the Snowhill County, to be specific."Carla could feel the blood fleeting from her face. "Oh mein..." Carla started, but found herself unable to finish. That didn't matter though, what mattered was all of her grandmother's childhood stories. She had told Carla stories of a distant world when she was really young.
A world with 8 different continents that couldn't be more different from eachother. There was a continent of pure snow and frost right underneath a fiery continent with burning inferno's. Along with a forested one, isolating itself on the left of the heated one and an isolated wasteland next to the wintery one. On the other side, there had been three continents attached with a large islanded one underneath. A rainbow and colorful one, a cloudy and skylike one, a gloomy, dark one with no light, and the island was rainy and dampened. She always thought these lands were a part of her grandmother's imagination. "Carla?" Jake asked worryingly "you good? Your looking awfully pale." Carla wasn't paying attention, she was focused on something else. "But the snow counties are ruled by the Ice king... and his daughter Annie..." Carla drawled on halfheartedly. "CARLA" Jake screeched, snapping Carla back to reality "no one is allowed to talk about her Majesty's parents! Especially not her mother." Carla's deep Hazel eyes widened like an inflating balloon.
"This isn't just a made up story, right?" Carla's exasperated voice rose "I'M NOT DREAMING AM I?"
"No, but you're sure going crazy" Jake muttered, backing away. "Sorry, sorry, sorry" Carla apologised quickly "I just- my Grandma's stories- is this what she meant?" Carla noticed Jake's confused yet concerned expression. "Sorry, I should probably explain" Carla recollected herself as Jake nodded in agreement. "My grandmother -Marie Gründgens- told me stories always saying she was from here as well as Germany. I never thought she was actually serious, I thought they were become stories sheer made up when I was five!"Jake's eyes became more silver as they widened. He then rushed off to the disheveled bookshelf in the other room. Calls stared in bewilderment as he watched him race back. He immediately searched through the pages. "Where... Where... AH AHA" Jake yelped when he found what he was looking for. He shoved the article into Carla's face. Carla was shocked as she read the article,
Princess Marie goes missing
During her visit to the Snow Counties, Marie goes missing, last seen running off with an unknown boy. Rumor has it she went to his world or an entirely different world. Others say he kidnapped and/or murdered her.
Carla stops reading abruptly as she peels her eyes away from the book. "Grandma... Did run away from her duties" Carla breathed. "Well, now we know the rumors are true" Jake said attempting to hide his shock "She did go to a different world." The two sat in an awkward silence, unsure what to do next.
"Well, you mentioned a Snow Queen" Carla started quietly, playing with her hair. "Yes, she the current ruler and a total brat" Jake said as finished his coffee "She got that way after her parents were murdered." Jake glared blankly at Carla "I wouldn't get in her way, many have tried but failed to end her tyrannical rule." Carla looked out the frost covered window. She couldn't see anything due to the storm. "But she's a queen, shouldn't she responsible?" Carla asks genuinely. "Eh, she's queen she can do whatever she wants" Jake drawled "makes good news though."
There was a bumping noise followed by quick, light footsteps. Then, appearing from the doorway was a girl. She had light blonde hair, bright green eyes and deep Navy nails dotted with hot pink. "Hey, Jakey you never told me you brought a new friend home"
