"Sato!" I call out, rushing past the others.

They're currently sitting at the long, antique table with gold trim on the edges of the surface. Everyone's eating Ayame's cooking, so it's safe to say I don't trust it.

All of my dormmates look at me with astonished expressions. You'd think they just saw someone rise from the dead.

Sato stops walking, a bowl of something unrecognizable in his hand, "Yes?" He responds, jaw practically on the floor, eyes wide.

I get a little too close to him, looking up at his taller figure. His cheeks turn a light shade of red. "Where's your mom?" I ask, my voice full of more energy than usual. I can feel everyone's gazes on me, but I don't care.

"I- um, she's in her room. She said she wasn't feeling well. Why do you want to know?" He asks, voice full of confusion, looking for some kind of answer in my eyes. His gaze drifts to my hand, raising an eyebrow, "And what's with the flower?"

Happiness fills my veins, something that's almost foreign to me, "Great, thanks," I say, running off without an explanation.

Sato POV:

I watch Mia's retreating figure with curious eyes. She seemed different just now.

"Well, she sure has a lot of energy this morning," Haru states, looking in the same direction as me, speaking through a mouthful of food, which I still can't tell the contents of.

I turn around, taking the seat next to him, placing my bowl on the table, "Was it just me, or did she seem happier than usual?" I ask as I take a spoonful of the food in front of me, staring at it with determination.

It may look disgusting, but I have to support Ayame. I can do this.

"Yeah, she did. Maybe our little Mi-chan is starting to spread her wings. Oh, how emotional!" He exclaims.

As I bring the spoonful up to my lips, Haru grabs my arm, stopping me, "I wouldn't eat that if I were you. I think Ayame might have mixed up the dog poop and the breakfast."

I chuckle nervously, putting the spoon back down. That wouldn't surprise me.

As I'm talking with Haru I realize that I forgot to tell Mia where my mom's room is. I hope she isn't too lost.

Mia's POV:

I really should've asked Sato where his mom's room is because now I'm lost. I've been running around this mansion aimlessly. So far, I've found six different bathrooms, SIX. You don't need that many places to shit.

Eventually, I come across an open door. Looking in, I see an older woman gazing out the window from her king-sized bed. The room is the same size as my uncle's house.

She looks so weak and tired, but once her eyes meet mine, her face lights up, an excited glint in her brown orbs.

"Hey there, girl! Gald ya came to visit!" She exclaims, patting an empty spot on her bed.

I walk into the room, noticing pictures of a younger version of her and an unknown man; that I would assume to be Sato's father.

There are also photos of them with three boys as well as paintings of flowers.

I walk over to her bedside table, placing the white flower I retrieved from the garden into the vase filled with water.

"Why a white gladiolus?" She asks, raising an eyebrow.
