When I got home the fire smelt like roasting marshmallows and it warmed my body. "Hey Brooklyn did you ever put in your orders for the ball next week?" my dad yelled from across the house. "Yes Dad." I rolled my eyes. Ever since my mother died, my father and I haven't been as close as we used to. But my little sister, Cassie, is the best thing that has happened to me. She is basically my only friend. I went upstairs to her room to ask her about the ball. I love her room. I always have. The light purple walls and the purple and green sequenced bedding matched perfectly with her personality; she was like royalty. Everyone loves her, but she never takes it for granted. "What dress are you wearing to the ball?" I asked her. "I haven't decided," she said with a smirk on her face. Well I guess she wasn't going to tell me.

At dinner time Delta, the maid, cooked us a beyond delicious turkey platter. I devoured it in seconds, while my dad and sister took their time. My dad was the first to talk. "Cassie, are you excited for your birthday ball next week?"
"I can't wait!" she squealed.
"I can't believe that my little sis it going to be fifteen!" I said.
"I'm only two years younger than you, I'm not that little."
She was right. She isn't that little girl that cried herself to sleep every night. She is so much stronger.
Delta ran over. "Desserts?"
