Part 20 | Oh Boy (3/?)

Clary's PoV

     I was cooking dinner for Jace and me, we had decided on steak, mashed potatoes, and carrots. He was doing a perimeter check, I know he will be back soon so I'm trying to get this done so we can eat right away.  I don't even know what going on anymore, I know how I feel for him, I know I love him, I know, I know, I know.

     But I also don't know, I don't know what to believe anymore, I'm so confused. What was Valentine's plan with telling us we were siblings? What was the point?

     Thankfully I finished right as he walked through the door. I look over at him with a shy smile, "Hey, J."

     "Hey Dragon, you ok?" He asks genuinely, at which I smile. I watch as he puts his gear down and sheds a couple layers because the heater is on, when he looks to me for an answer I just nod. I motion him over so he can start on his plate, as we start loading our plates he tells me all about his patrol.

     "So there was this one older woman who was like just-just standing there with this sad look on her face and I felt so bad for her. I took my glamor off and got her a rose from the shop over there and gave it to her, she smiled so big, it was the cutest thing ever Dragon. She thanked me and told me how it was the anniversary of her late husbands death and she was having a bad day, because her kids couldn't visit," he says looking over at me with such sad eyes, I noticed the guilt wash over him, knowing its because he was never going to be able to really do that with his grandparents or parents, "they all have kids of there own you know, so they couldn't come up to see her."

     "Well I bet you made her day, JJ. You, a complete stranger went out of your way to help an older woman," I say as we sit down and start eating, "It was a very selfless thing of you to do, Im so proud of you."

     He looks at me with tears in his eyes, once I see that I get up and pull him into my arms doing my best to comfort him. Seeing him like this always made me so sad, he was the strongest man, the strongest person I knew, and to see him so selfless and caring to a complete stranger warms my heart making me fall even more in love with him.

Hey i know Ive left yall hanging for a long time I honestly have been so busy with work and school. Im not in the best place rn and am exhausted. Im sorry this one was short but I am starting to get more in the grove with writing again. Im trying to improve my style and be more creative with my writing rn.
