I examine my appearance in my full body mirror. I look good, with my new, dress, new, bag and new shoes, with my freshly done hair nails and makeup.
Miranda and Melodie are in the other rooms getting ready and Lorenzo left to pick up Marcu, Chloe and Kevin. I don't know where we going but the outfit they chose is giving me cocktail party mixed with beach house vibes.
My bedroom door opened and I was hit with the familiar scent of cologne and whiskey. I looked over and saw Giovani standing in my doorway with his hands behind his back.
"Happy birthday Vally!" he opened his arms and without hesitation, I ran into them.
"Happy Valentines day Gio" he gently patted my head. I pulled away but he was still holding me by my shoulders. I stared at me with this heart-melting smile
"You're 29 today. I feel so old" I looked up at him and giggled.
"I have a present for you" he reached into his pockets and pulled out a little box.
"I know how much you wish your mom was here" he opened the box and pulled out a shiny silver necklace with a heart pendant.
"So I had this necklace made out of her ashes, so now you can wear her close to your heart all the time"
I stared at the little thing. I looked up at Gio and right back down to the necklace. I tear threatened to escape but I couldn't let it fall, I can't ruin my makeup.
Not knowing what to say, I wrapped my arms around Giovani in a warm embrace.
"Thank you so much" my voice cracked as I force myself, to not cry. He started rubbing gentle, soothing circles in my back as we just stood there.
"I'm glad you like it. Let me put it on you" I turned around and allowed him to put it around, my neck. I played with the pendant a little and just thinking about my role model. I really wish she was here.

Gio took my hand and lead me downstairs to where everyone was.

Everyone was here, but now we're waiting for Giovani and Valerie.
"Finally!" Mel yelled
I looked up at the staircase and my breath got caught in my throat. Suddenly everything was in slow motion and I zeroed in on the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. The chatter in the room, when radio silent as Valerie walked down those stairs, with her arm in Giovani's. The dress, hugged her body like a second skin and her graceful strut was hypnotizing. The room became hotter, if this is my reaction now, what will happen to me on our wedding day?
I didn't stop staring unit she was standing directly in front of me.
"Hey" she looked up at me with her signature smile, my pants got tight at this simple gesture.
"Hey" I responded. She was about to kiss me, but before our lips could touch, Giovani spoke.
"The limo is outside waiting. Let's go" Valerie, Kevin, Marcus, Chloe, Melodie, Miranda and Giovani headed.
