Just 10 years ago, a horrible storm tore my world apart. I was just 7 years old, an only child. During this time, my family and I were on a ship, sailing across the sea to new horizons. When the storm came along, the sea had become turbulent. The ship was rocking back and forth until my small body hit the ice-cold water.

I don't remember anything else besides that. At one point I woke up on this island, far away from that ship and with no sight of my parents. For days I cried for help but to no avail. Eventually, I grew older and my story patchier until I forgot too many details.

Now that I was 17, I had no memory of my life before the storm. I guess you could say my memory begins with a storm. I had explored the island, wandering around the white sand. With only myself as a company, I quickly abolished the feeling of loneliness and boredom. It became a routine, almost a day-to-day thing.

But as I grew up and got older, I had changed. I was becoming a woman and that was scary. No one had ever taught me how to be one. All I knew was the ocean and myself.

I kept the company of animals, including Felice, a monkey. Seemed to be a close friend to me, the only thing that kept me sane. But I had given up on ever escaping this island and treating it as my new home. I was living on berries and coconuts. Living in trees and making my own houses that got blown away by heavy winds.

I must admit, living here had its perks. It was quiet, the weather seemed nice for the most part, with some exceptions. But here and then, I couldn't help but feel anxious. I knew other people existed and I knew that people lived somewhere around here. And I was just waiting to be found.
