Chapter 9: Unusual Things...

Levi's POV

Months later, this morning was one of the few mornings that I woke up to Hanji's body in my bed. Sometimes, I wake up to seeing her in her cat form. Today is one of the days that she wasn't. I smiled softly, reaching over and kissing her cheek. She groaned softly in response, sighing softly. 

"No..." She whimpers, pulling the blankets over her. "I don't wanna get up..."

"We have to. Don't you remember? We gotta get ready for the expedition today. Hurry it up." I patted her shoulder, groaning as I got up from the bed. 

By the time I changed into my uniform, Hanji was still in my bed. Still curled up and snoring softly. "Seriously?" I scoffed, groaning as I walked over to her. "Oi... Hanji... Hanji."

She groans softly, pulling the blankets over her again. "Levi, let me sleep, okay? You hate it when I don't sleep... and now, I'm sleeping, but you're waking me up now." Her eyes were still closed as she spoke. Sometimes, she just makes me annoyed. 

"We're going to be late. I don't want Erwin to see what we've been doing in the last few months. Do you really want to hear a lecture from him and him banning us to be together within a meter or two?"

Then, her eyes fluttered opened. A smirk grew on her face as she chuckled. "Then that makes our relationship very thrilling. Going behind Erwin's back about us together is one thing... but him clearly putting restrictions on us would be... exciting... wouldn't it? Us two... sneaking and checking through the halls just to make it into-."

"Hanji, off-topic." Gently shoving her off the bed. "We need to go, now."

"Give me a minute."

"I've given you enough minutes, Hanji. Up. Now."

The second I wrapped my arms around her waist, she yelped and hissed at me. "No! Levi, I... I think I'm sick. At least report to Erwin I can't make it. Moblit needs to replace me on the expedition, and-."

"You're sick?" I put my hand on her forehead, feeling it slightly warmer than normal. "How's your head?"

"Dizzy..." She shut her eyes and groaned. "Like... I'm just... tired... nothing else is wrong with me. Just a headache."

With a heavy sigh, I nodded my head. "Do you want to stay here in my bed then? I want to stay here with you, Hanji, but knowing Erwin, he can't lose both of his best Scouts out of the field. I'll get you a doctor as soon as I notify him."

Hanji smiled softly as I tucked her back in bed. "I'll stay here... come up with a good lie for me, Levi..."

I kissed her forehead, caressing her cheek. "Sleep tight."

Just as I was walking away, Hanji calls my name softly. So then, I turned back to see her with her weary smile. "Stay safe, Levi... come back safe and sound... please?"

Usually, I don't smile at anything, but I did smile to whatever Hanji had to say. "I will. Just sleep and get better. Don't do anything reckless without me nearby. And... I might consult with Erwin about you getting another pet titan or something like that. You hear me?"

Her smile continued to brighten the room. "Okay..."

"Sleep, Hanji... I love you."

"Love you too..."

I closed the door behind me, sighing heavily as I walked to Erwin's quarters. He's not going to like it. Moblit hasn't had much training with leading a squad, nor do I ever think that anyone else in her squad can leader anyone else. If anything... Erwin has to assign someone he trusts to lead her squad... that or I take her squad under my own wing.

What are we going to do?

All I hoped was for Hanji to get better now... I don't even know what she has... but I hope I haven't gotten whatever she's caught.
