Levi's POV
Just as we were riding back into the walls, I thought I saw a familiar face in the crowd. It was only for a second, but I swore I saw Hanji's face. Partially hidden by the standard Survey Corps cape. But then again, it could be just my mind playing tricks. Maybe the 2 weeks out of the walls made me go crazy when Hanji wasn't nearby.
But one thing I did know for sure was that Hanji was safe in HQ. Not outside the walls where titans can grab and eat her. No, she was safe inside with a few Scouts that I asked for them to stay put to watch over her.
It sounds crazy, but I did it just for Hanji. After all... she is still one of the most important women in the Survey Corps. There need to be protection for her at all times. She's so important to everyone.
"Hanji, I'm home..." I smiled softly as we trotted to HQ.
* * *
Quickly, I ran up to my room, hoping to see Hanji still there. If not, then I have to run all the way down to the basement to her laboratory. She's hardly in her room. Which is good, in a way. I don't have to look for her in another place.
"Hanji!" I called her name, opening my door to find the sleeping woman on my bed. Strange. She normally snores when she sleeps. I've noticed that often. "Hanji, are you sleeping? Don't try to scare me into thinking you're dead, Hanji."
She turned over, smiling softly. "You're back..."
"Stop trying to scare me, Hanji." I kissed her forehead and caressing her cheek. "How have you been since I was gone?"
"Bored."
"Bored?" She nods her head. "How are you that bored? You had time for practically everything else in HQ, and you were bored." Hanji was silent for a few seconds before I sighed. "What about your crystals? You know?"
"Nothing else I can figure out about them."
"Experimental serums?"
"Nope."
"Cat training?" Once more, she was silent. I thought she would've found something fun about being a cat without people telling her to shift back into her human form, etc. Mostly... it was me because I was the only person who knew about her cat abilities. "Hanji, what's wrong?"
I sat on the bed, allowing Hanji to snuggle into my chest. Her hands rested on my leg, smiling softly. "When I was sick," she began, "I found out that... well, I lost my cat ability."
"How?"
Hanji smirked and rubbed her stomach. "Because transforming into a cat interferes being pregnant."
She threw a rock into my gut when she said that. I trust Hanji with all of my heart... and if she says she's pregnant... it's my child. "Wait... s-serious...ly...? You're... pregnant...? Mine...?"
She jumped up and pecked a kiss on my cheek. "Levi, can you believe it? I... well... I'm troubled with the news."
"Troubled? How so?"
Hanji rolled onto the bed, cuddling a pillow and pulling her knees to her chest. "Well... I... Krissy, one of the Scouts, told me that... well... most female Scouts that have children... well... retire. They retire and raise the children they have. Building a family. And... Levi, I... I do want to have kid... but it's going to interfere with my work. I can't give it up."
I kissed her cheek and rubbed her stomach. "Then don't give up. Hanji, we can take both responsibilities. It's not just your baby... it's mine too. With all honestly, I'm scared too..."
"How so...?"
"I never had a father, Hanji. I don't know to be one. There was one guy, but he left me after he trained me to survive in the Underground. I don't know how to be a good father. So how can I be a father if I don't know how?"
"I guess... it's just what you said..." Hanji smiles, leaning her head against my leg and nudging her nose as well. "We can do both responsibilities. I grew up with parents, Levi, so I can help teach you how to be a parent according to my experience. You can help me with my duties as we both take care of our baby."
"Oh, right."
"What?"
The thought of Erwin popped into my head. Hanji means a lot to him since my lover is Erwin's right-handed woman. If she gets knocked out of the Survey Corps... this organization loses an important player. And I will not lose her. Not this time.
"Oh... right," Hanji groaned heavily, "Erwin... we're not supposed to be together because of that rule... right... I forgot... how do you think he's going to react?"
"For one thing, he's not going to kick us both out. We both have something to the Survey Corps. For you, Hanji, you are one of the smartest woman out here in the Survey Corps... and I love you for your brains. And I am the strongest out here. Trusted by Erwin too. Erwin won't lose us. He wouldn't dare do that."
"Good. Because if he kicked me out, you better stay here then."
"Says who?" I chuckled, kissing her. "If you left, I would follow you. I wouldn't dare let you out of my sight."
"Huh?! Levi, it's just our jobs! Not like Erwin is kicking me out of the walls!"
"It feels like that, Hanji..." I smiled, kissing her once more. "You're going to be a great mom."
"And you will be a great father, Levi..."
