The Last Fear Freezers

Chapter 22

"I still think you cheated!," Jester mumbled as I smiled.

"You're being a sore loser! Nash, could you grab my arm? Please?," I asked in a whisper as I held my arm out. Nash reluctantly took it from me. We were about three feet away from the main doors of the hospital. My legs and arms felt better but Nash and Jester both insisted that they would help me.

"Are you sure you want to do this? It's only a night! We can still go back!," Jester tried convincing me as I shot him a death stare.

"I want out of here! If you're too much of a scardy cat about breaking out of a hospital you can go back to the room but I've been in there much longer than I can take!," I admitted as Jester sighed. He looked annoyed but he didn't say anything. We waited for a few minutes before we saw the security cameras move away from our direction.

"Ok! This is our chance!," Nash whispered as he and Jester helped me over to the door. In less than thirty seconds I picked the lock with a hairpin. 'I still got it' I thought to myself as Nash pulled the door open and he, Jester, and I slipped out of the hospital unnoticed. Once we were a reasonable distance from the hospital we stopped to rest.

"This is crazy! Why couldn't you just stay in the hospital tonight and be let out legally tomorrow?," Jester asked me again. I smiled knowingly at him but had no intention of answering his question.

"Wouldn't you like to know!," I taunted him.

The next day I woke up in Amy's house. While the Fear Freezer town was being fixed up after the attack Ki, Akiri, Ada, Miyah, Nash, Jester, Jason, Mira, Candy, Aki, Aaron, Jay, Jonah, Sugar, Gita, Kali, Alea, and I were all invited to stay at Amy's house. My parents found out about me escaping the hospital not even an hour after I escaped. Apartenly a nurse came in to check on me, found out I was missing, and called my parents. Dad and my mother had made an agreement that I could stay at Amy's house as long as I stayed in bed all day. So now I was in my bed, in my room, in Amy's house, for the rest of the day.

"Hey Ash! You ok?," Jester asked me as I rolled over so I could see him.

"Hm! I'm fine! The doctors at that hospital need more experience because they are amatures and know nothing!," I growled.

"This probably isn't right but I told you so!," Jester told me with a smile plastered on his face.

"At least when I get out of bed Pax will be out of the hospital!," I looked on the bright side. It turned out Pax was one of the many humans that got hurt in the explosion. Lucky for him he was only minimally hurt and could get out of the hospital tomorrow.

"Yeah, yeah! I still don't like her! By the way, Ace wants to see you!," Jester added as I perked up.

"You can send him in!," I told Jester as he opened the door and left after Ace walked into the room.

"Hey! You look like you're feeling better! I'm glad!," Ace exclaimed as he sat next to me on my bed.

"Maybe you should tell the doctors that! Then they might let me get out of this bed!," I growled as Ace laughed.

"Won't do much good! You do look better but I still think you need a bit of rest!," Ace exclaimed as I sighed.

"I've got to go! See you later!," Ace left me alone in my room.

To pass the time I had alone I picked up my phone and went through the notifications. There was one notification that caught my eye. It was another news broadcast. Over the past few weeks I had gotten my fill of news broadcasts. Still I clicked on the news broadcast and watched it. There was a news woman and surprisingly she was interviewing a Fear Freezer!

"...the Fear Freezer government and the combined human leaders of the world have come to an agreement! Since both are not aliens and the earth has been both species' homes for centuries we have decided that the two species will live among each other! The Fear Freezer has been found to not have any negative impact on the human species! They are no more dangerous than any other living animal on the earth! In fact it has been proved with lots of study that the Fear Freezer species actually has many gifts that could positively impact both species! With the help of Fear Freezers humans are now becoming even more advanced! Fear Freezers are now allowed to get jobs and go to school along with any other convenience humans have!," the news lady was saying. I sat on my bed with my mouth gaping open.

"O...M...G! Guys!," I shouted. I completely forgot about staying in bed and ran out of my room. I found everyone in the living room.

"Ash! You're supposed to be in bed! You keep this up and you'll have to stay in bed for another day!," Nash reminded me.

"I know! I know! I'll go back to bed in a minute! You guys just really need to see this!," I exclaimed as I shoved my phone in their faces. Jester rolled his eyes and decided to please me by watching the news broadcast. After a few minutes everyone was glued to my phone. Once the news broadcast finished everyone ended up looking at me.

"Is this a joke?," Ki asked me as I shook my head viciously.

"Nope! This is the real deal!," I announced as everyone exchanged glances. The room burst out into cheers and shouts of joy. As I looked around I landed on Jester. He was standing near Mira, Jason, Janis, Daze, Millie, Mike, and Arise. A smile spread across my face as I watched my best friend reunite with his family. We were finally at peace! Maybe I could finally enjoy the simple pleasures of life! Who knows! Maybe I'll end up with a boyfriend! The possibilities seemed endless! No more war! No more hate on Fear Freezers! I finally felt free!
