—"Does this crown look familiar?"
Laila smirked as she saw the look on Pansys face. "I'll take that as a yes." She sighed, "What do you think would happen if Adriana got her hands on this thing?"
"Nothing bad," Cedric furrowed his brows, "Right?"
A scoff left Lailas mouth, "Come on, she's not even a fucking human. Adriana is just— a demon really." she said as she rolled her eyes, "I mean she has powers? Dangerous powers. Literal objects— She can form fucking swords and figures out of her body."
"Laila give me the crown."
"And they listen to everything she says!" Laila yelled, "She controls them. Adriana is a fucking monster— once she figures out everything that they can do, she'll use it to—"
"Give me the goddamn crown!" Pansy shouted, again, "Adriana is not a monster—."
"Want me to prove it to you?"
"Laila shes a fucking human like the rest of us." Cedric said, clenching his fists.
Laila took notice of what he was doing and questioned him, "Are you going to punch me, Ced?" she smiled, "Or push me the way you pushed Adriana?"
Cedrics face dropped, "What—"
"Don't think I didn't see that." she tilted her head to the side, "Listening to Cho about getting you to fuck me wasn't just to come over. I had to watch you guys, make sure what I was doing was working. Ya know?"
"I fucking hate you." he said coldly.
"You still fucked me." she shrugged, "I'm going to ask you again. Do you want me to prove it to you?"
—
Adriana set down her glass before closing the bottle of alcohol and putting it away. Theo went out to go buy a few things— said he would take no longer than twenty minutes.
It's already been fifteen.
The redhead only took one drink, that's it. She told herself only one.
Surprisingly, she kept her word.
Now on her way to lay down on the couch and read a book, she heard Merci and Blizzard growling at the door, sniffing the bottom of it as well. She stood up.
Adriana snapped her fingers, making them back away so she could open the door. They sat on each side of her and waited. She opened the door and met with three faces— two of which she really didn't need to see right now.
Especially together.
"What the fuck do you guys want?"
Laila sighed and began to explain, "So, there's this thing that I think you'd really love to see again—" she stopped due to Blizzard howling.
Adriana crossed her arms, "Hurry up and fucking say it before I make them eat you." Adriana rolled her eyes, "They're hungry."
"Okay— Okay! Uhm, for starters— I'm sorry." she lied, "I'm sorry for getting with Cedric and—"
Adriana knew Laila was full of shit, but still wanted to go along with it. She wanted to see exactly where Laila was taking this.
"You had a choice, Laila. You could've stayed away from him and Cho—"
"I envy you!" Laila spat, cutting her off, "I was jealous of you and all the things you are. All the things you can do. That's why I did it. That's why I listened to Cho."
"You? Envy me?"
"Yeah. I envy you, Adriana. Because you're little miss perfect, the one everyone wants. You were daddy's good little fucking girl weren't you?" Laila huffed, "But now... now you're a monster."
"A what?" Adriana breathed.
"Here." Laila scoffed, taking the crown out of her bag, "Take this crown, show them who you really fucking are. Show them the monster that you are."
"I'm not a monster." she shook her head, backing away from the door. Merci and Blizzard followed. Cedric, Pansy and Laila let themselves into the house.
"Yes you are."
"Laila enough—"
"Zip it Parkinson."
Adriana saw it all. Everything that's happened to her.
Everything that made her.. her.
"You wanna know how I know I'm not a goddamn monster?" her voice began to break, tears forming in her eyes, "Everything I've been through. All the sitting around the castle I have done, waiting for the next prince to come. All the good and fun times I've had with my family, my people. All of the shit I've seen—"
"Still a mon—"
"All the scars. All the scars on my body are proof I'm like the rest of you. Im pretty sure a monsters wound would heal like that! It probably wouldn't even leave no scar, let alone a scab." she snapped her fingers. "I'm a fucking human. Someone who wants to find happiness. Love. Success—."
Lailas lips twitched, listening to every word that Adriana said.
"Sure I can make dark figures emerge from my body and the ground but—" she was cut off.
"If you're not a monster, put on the crown."
Adriana stammered, "N-no."
Laila smirked, "Why not? Scared that your friends here will find out who you are—? More like Ced will find out. Me and Pansy have already seen it for ourselves."
"Laila stop." Pansy said sternly.
Cedric looked at Adriana. Her hands closed into fists, shaking. He noticed her eyes going black— Like they did in the library that day.
Why aren't they red?
"Put on the goddamn crown, princess."
Adriana inhaled—
Deep breath.
Exhale.
"Fine," she sighed, her eyes going back to normal, "I'll give you what you want.. But first— We need to be somewhere else."
