Neil POV
Sure. Working on Broadway and acting in movies is great! But, working at a little café downtown is also pretty great. Every morning I get to open the shop to show tunes being sung by my coworkers. We sing: Heathers, Hamilton, Mean Girls, In The Heights, Six, Hadestown, Wicked, Beetlejuice, High School Musical, and a lot more. It's called the "Friendly Bean" and it has a little coffee bean waving on the front! It's really cute! This morning I walked in and they chose Dear Evan Hansen. Bold choice. In the background I could hear everyone softly singing,
"We start with stars in our eyes
We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong"God I love this place. I heard the bell ring and I raced over to the counter because I knew it was Charlie. I was surprised to see not Charlie but a small man that looked kind of upset and tired. He had blonde hair and gorgeous sky blue eyes.
"Hey is that waving windows in the back? Dear Evan Hansen?" The blonde boy asked.
"Yeah it is. Broadway fan?" I asked cheerfully hoping to cheer him up.
"Not really on broadway but I watch a lot of musicals on tv platforms." He half smiled.
"Cool." I grinned.
"Hey can I have one medium coffee?" The boy asked. I silently crossed my fingers under the counter that he'd say he's gay.
"How much cream?"
"One."
"Sugars?"
"Five." (Totally not a reference-)
Time skip and Todd POV
I got my coffee in less than a minute! The guy at the counter was really cute. The way he smiled and how his face lit up when I asked him about Dear Evan Hansen. I also him twirl to the back to make coffee instead of walking. He walked over and I snapped out of my thoughts. He handed my coffee and I slipped on my overcoat.I left the coffee shop and looked out at the Vermont pinky sky. I breathed out and smoked puffed out of my mouth like a fire breathing dragon. I took a sip of coffee to warm myself up when I noticed small neat writing on the side.
Hey! I think your really cute! You looked a bit sad though, would you go on a date with me? Maybe you can call me? Or if your not busy maybe you can come back? Ah screw it, who am I kidding, there's no way you'd go on a date with someone who just gave you coffee.
If your actually crazy enough to go on a picnic with someone who just go you a coffee, here's my number:
(Insert phone number here)
-NeilI quietly smiled to myself and turned around to look at the café.
"I have nothing on today." I whispered and smiled. I started walking back to the café. I open the door and rang the bell once again. I'm met with the same boy. I grinned slightly.
"It's Y-O-U, apostrophe, R-E." I chuckled.
"Pick me up at 3 kay? I'm Todd." I grinned.
He nodded and I winked on the way out. Where was all this confidence coming from? Am I going on a date with a serial killer? I really hope not.
"I guess you'll have to find out."
