Chapter 11

The temple was in ruin. Asuma felt grief over the destruction of the temple he used to spend months in at a time, but he understood that as a shinobi on a mission he couldn't waste time letting his emotions get in the way. He looked over the coffins again after the monk finished listing off the long list of casualties. Asuma turned back to the monk, "And... where's Chiriku?" The monk swallowed the lump in his throat before answering, "Well... the truth is, wherever we looked, we couldn't find Chiriku's body." Izumo stopped writing on his notepad, "Uh... Asuma-taichou..." Asuma turned to the chunin, "What is it, Izumo?" Izumo cleared his throat before looking up at his captain, "I kind of don't want to say this, but on the black market, Chiriku has become a prized bounty worth 3 million ryo. Those Akatsuki guys probably..." Asuma didn't like the thought but agreed, "Perhaps, huh." Shikamaru thought out loud, "A bounty station perhaps? If that's the case, there's a good chance that they're still carrying his body around." Kotetsu turned to his friend, "Izumo, where are the collection offices?" Izumo flipped the paper he was looking at up and read over the page under it, "Including the one nearest to us, there are five locations in all."

Kotetsu made letters and attached them to messenger birds while Asuma and Shikamaru strategized. Kotetsu sent the birds out and Izumo said, "With this, the nearest teams can hasten to the other four locations." Asuma nodded, then announced, "Alright then! Let's move on as well!"

The monk stopped them, "Please wait, Sarutobi Asuma-dono. Please allow me, even a little, to pray for you who are about to go into battle."

Naruto screamed, "I CUT THE WATERFALL! I REALLY CUT IT!" All of his clones dispersed and Yamato fell to his hands and knees, panting, "Phew." Kakashi said, "He did well, now we can finally enter the final stages of his new jutsu."

Naruto's breathing became more and more staggered. Kakashi became worried when Naruto went into a coughing fit. Kakashi yelled up, "NARUTO?! ARE YOU OKAY?!" When Naruto collapsed, Kakashi panicked and shunshined next to his student, 'I think we overdid it!' Before losing consciousness, Naruto mumbled, "I'm... so... hungry..." Kakashi let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, 'Thank god...'

Asuma bowed in thanks, "Thank you very much." The monk said, "That sash on your waist. You have one just like Chiriku did, it comes from being one of the twelve ninja guardsmen. Please be careful when fighting." Shikamaru silently looked over to his sensei, curious of his answer. Asuma smiled, "Don't worry yourself too much over me! After all, my bounty is five million more than Chiriku's. I won't give them a chance so easily."

A part of the wall fell from inside the bathroom. Hidan immediately complained, "Don't tell me he chose to put the secret meeting spot in the bathroom!" A man only showed part of his heavily scarred face through the newly revealed doorway.

The scarred man looked over the body, "There's no mistaking it, it's Chiriku." As the man grabbed the already prepared bounty and handed it to the much older man he said, "He was quite the big game this time, eh Kakuzu." Kakuzu took the briefcase, "...yeah." Hidan was holding his hand over his nose, "I don't know if it's the piss or dead bodies, but whatever is causing the smell, it reeks in here! Hurry up and let's go, Kakuzu!" Kakuzu opened the briefcase in his hand, "Wait, I'm counting my money first." Hidan looked as if he was offended and disgusted, "Excuse me then, cuz I'm not spending another second in here!" Kakuzu glanced up at his partner for a moment before quickly looking back at his money, "Hmph! I'll be out soon!"

Sakura walked up and knocked on the door. "Oh, Sakura-san! It's so lovely to see you!" Sakura gave the Yamanaka a bright smile, "It's a pleasure to see you too Yamanaka-san. Is Ino home?" Ino's mother looked a bit surprised, "Ino didn't tell you?" Sakura was confused, "Tell me what?" The old woman answered, "Ino was chosen to assist in the Akatsuki suppression missions."
