After Stefan had threatened Elena's life, Klaus wasn't going to send their hybrids away, he just didn't care if Elena died. But Damon did, and when he begged Anastasiya to do something, she of course put her feelings aside and told Stefan she would send their hybrids away.

Ergo. Elena lives, Damon still has his love,  and Anastasiya finally understood that she would never be the one for Damon Salvatore.

So here Ana was, standing in Damon's room. She had just come from putting Henry to bed, and talking with her father. The shower was running, meaning Damon was showering so Anastasiya took a sit on the edge o this bed, waiting.

After a while Damon came out with a towel wrapped around his waist, his hair dripping. Anastasiya didn't even move, she just stared at Damon's face, waiting for him to say something.

"Anastasiya? What are you doing here?" Damon asked making Anastasiya sigh and look down.

"I came to talk to you." Anastasiya told him. "You said you wanted to be friends? I would like that." Anastasiya told him making Damon smile softly.

"Really?" Damon asked as he neared her as she finally met his eyes.

"Friends?" Anastasiya asked as she held her hand out for him to shake, and he did.

"Friends." Damon stated with a smile and Anastasiya just gave him a weak smile before she sped away.

Anastasiya Mikaelson had just agreed to being just friends with the man she loved, the man who taught her what actual love was, the man she had spent almost two centuries loving. The youngest Mikaelson knew that she would never be the woman for Damon, but she had hoped that maybe she could, but Damon didn't want her, he wanted Elena Gilbert.

Anastasiya Aleksandra Mikaelson had always gotten what she wanted and now she wanted Damon Salvatore and she couldn't have him. Ana could never have him. Because for Damon it would always be a doppelgänger, but this time he didn't pick Elena because she looked like Katherine, he picked her because he loved her for her. Ana didn't understand what Elena had that she didn't, but she had to understand that this time it wasn't her that Damon wanted.

Anastasiya was to be strong. Her and Damon were friends, it was better than nothing. Even if she didn't want to be just a friend, she just had to understand. It was going to take some time but Anastasiya would get over Damon.

Anastasiya Mikaelson would get a partner that loved her for her. A partner who wouldn't dare choose someone else, a partner who would sacrifice their life for her, and finally a partner who would love her till their last breath.

Anastasiya would believe that someone was out there waiting for her, and they were.
