Rayyana's POV
"Really? That's amazing!" I smiled at my phone "You promise to come visit?" Sabha said over the phone, "Yeah I promise." We talked for a few more minutes before I hung up and put my phone down.
I flipped the pancakes I was making when suddenly I felt a arm wrap around my waist, Asad kissed the top of my head making me blush "Who were you talking to?" I put the pancakes on a plate "Sabha, she invited us over for her wedding."
Amir let me go letting me walk to the table to put the pancakes down. "Amir did it huh?" Amir was messaging Asad like crazy, he was love sick. He wouldn't stop texting Asad about Sabha and how everything she does drives him crazy.
He also mentioned that her mom had warned him not to touch Sabha before the wedding. Me and Asad laughed at that.
"Ohhh Rayyana you are an amazing cook." Amjad said taking a bite out of a pancake, Faatima smacked his head "Put it on a plate first." Amjad smiled sheepishly and mumbled "Yes Jaan." I put some Orange Juice down and whispered "Don't worry, I'll make a whole plate's worth for you."
Amjad and I smiled and did our secret handshake. Faatima rolled her eyes "Rayyana, your giving him so much freedom." Asad laughed as I sat down next to him "Seems like my wife likes my dad over me."
I put pancakes on my plate and poured myself some Orange Juice "Of course, He's more funnier then you." Asad gasped and mockingly put a hand to his chest "Ouch." Me and Amjad just laughed as Faatima and Asad talked about beating us later in Snakes and Ladders.
Soojin's POV
"HOW DARE YOU?" My dad slapped me so hard that I fell to the floor. His assistant beside him winced looking down at me.
"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE SOOJIN?" I slowly got up and stared at him, my cheek was stinging. "I JUST LOSE YOUR MOM, AND YOUR BROTHER AND YOU COME BACK AS A CONVERT?"
I said nothing, he was feeling ashamed of me and that made me satisfied. "AFTER ME YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF MY CORP BUT CEARLY NOT ANYMORE." He turned to his assistant "You have a son right?"
His assistant turned to him and shaked his head "Y-yes sir." Poor man was shaking. "Good." My dad turned to me "We are sending a marriage proposal to your house, we will be there tomorrow."
Me and his Assistant's eyes widened "YOU CANT DO THAT DAD!" I wasn't going to marry someone I didn't know. "Well I just did." And then he shooed me off like I was nothing.
I ran out of his building and got into my car huffing heavily.
I was never anything for him, instead of making me feel welcomed he's tossing me away to some assistant's man. My phone rang and I looked down to see a text from Rabia.
"Sabha wasn't answering and you are really the only one I can hang out with." Rabia said drinking her mango milkshake. I nodded drinking my mango milkshake beside her.
"My dad's getting me married." Rabia turned over to me with a raised eyebrow "Just because I'm not Muslim anymore." Rabia took a gentle sip of her drink before smacking her lips.
These milkshakes make your lips all sticky.
"Soon.. you don't seem that happy anymore. You seem different then when you were a muslim." I turned to her "What?" I didn't mean for my tone to come out harsh but it came out that way. I decided not to apologize to Rabia as she flinched at my tone.
"...I don't know you just seem off then before." I said nothing, thinking about my mood lately.
Why had I converted? To spite my mom, wherever she was. Not because I didn't want to be a muslim... I shook my head. I had converted because being a Muslim is boring, way too many rules.
"No, I'm happy." Rabia nodded and we sat in silence. "Oh! I forgot to tell you, I got excepted into Aga Khan University!" My eyes widened and we both hugged.
Aga Khan University is a very prestigious school in Karachi. Rabia has the brains for it, so I wasn't that surprised. "Wow! Looks like your the only one who isn't getting married." Rabia scoffed "You guys are getting married at a young age, I'm going to go and get a job."
Rabia wasn't the type to want to get married, she didn't like the sound of some man making her his and then making the decision of wither or not she can continue her education or not. I wasn't going to study further since I already had a job which was my dad's company.
Looks like that isn't my job now. It made no sense since my husband has no right to any property's I owned in Isla- oh wait.
I sighed and leaned back onto the bench "I don't want this life Rabia. I want to live in a world where what I did isn't a crime."
"What you did isn't a crime Soojin, you did what your heart wanted you to do."
What my heart wanted it to do
Something about that didn't settle in with me. I nodded "Wish me luck."
He was quite handsome, I'll give him that. I was sitting across from my potential future husband, and his parents. His name was... I don't remember.
His parent's didn't like the sound of me being a convert but then they shrugged it off because my dad's rich. Currently, me and my potential future husband were sitting down across from each other silently.
His parents and my dad had left us to talk and get to know each other. "Have you... had sex before?" The man asked me. I shook my head "No, I'm still a virgin." Yes, I didn't go to some unknown man.
I didn't have the time... that's all.
"Why did you convert... if you want to share that is..." I sighed, this was getting no where so why the hell not?
"My parent's are evil, they favoured my brother over me. After he died, and my mom passed away I realized that converting was something both of them wouldn't want.. So I converted for revenge."
"So.. you didn't convert because you wanted too?"
"Yes, I actually wanted to convert for a long time. Sounds fun no? Sleeping with random men, being drunk, not having to pray 5 times I mean who even has time for that?"
He glared at me "Please do not speak ill of my religion. My religion is the best, and you should know this." He then proceeded to tell me about Islam all the bits and pieces that were fresh in my brain.
His voice was getting louder and louder, my dad and his parents came running in "Why are you yelling Dhawood?" Oh, that's his name.
"Mama, I don't want her. She's saying bad stuff about Islam a religion that she left for revenge." His parent's stared at me while I just shrugged "I converted, big deal." Then I grabbed my purse, and I took off my dupatta.
"I don't need this." His parent's gasped at my actions and I walked off not bothering to fix my shirt that was probably showing my butt.
When my dad and I reached his car he turned me around and slapped me.
"You have brought shame to me." He harshly whispered, then he got in his car and drove off leaving me behind.
That's when for the first time, I cried.
