Soul of the Justice League

Chapter Four

3rd Person POV

Kara and Clark were walking down the street discussing things after their interview with Lena when Clark's phone went off. It was Lois.

"I love that she worries about you," Kara said once he had hung up.

"Yeah me too," he replied though he hesitated. He had already explained to Kara that he had finally met his soulmate in Thunderbolt but he hadn't expected to see her again so soon. He hadn't managed to find the time to discuss things with Lois but there was just no way he was going to be able to keep things going with her. It was almost impossible to ignore the soulmate bond and if you did it was said to be extremely painful and often lead to death of one or both of the individuals. He had always felt strongly for Lois but they both knew it wasn't going to last. Lois had her own soulmate somewhere out there as well Clark just hadn't gotten around to mentioning that he had finally met his. But when he had, she had turned out to be even better than anything he could have imagined. When she had rescued them a few months ago Clark hadn't gotten a good look at her face from behind her mask but after their interaction just moments ago at CatCo he realized he was already falling head over heels for the beautiful girl though he realized he hadn't gotten her name but he did quickly realize that she was Thunderbolt. The spark he felt whenever they touched was proof.

Athena's POV

It turned out that Lena Luthor wasn't the cause of the explosion but the target. I dashed off as Thunderbolt and met up with Superman and Supergirl to intercept Lena before she got hurt.

"I thought you two might show up," I heard a voice say coming from the device that had tried to attack the chopper Lena Luthor was in. "You spoil all the fun."

"You know, if you were expecting us to show up, you really should've brought something a little more powerful," Superman said.

"I did. I brought my wits. I've drones planted throughout the city, targeting civilian populations as we speak. Your choice, heroes. Innocent civilians or the chopper?"

"Go. I got the chopper," Supergirl said. I flew off with Superman and used my lightning bolts to smash every drone I could find.

*Time Skip*

I couldn't help the slight moan that escaped as I sat back in my chair at work. I had gone home in the middle of the day only to find Ben and George in a particularly bad mood.

"Are you ok?" I jumped in my seat. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you," said I voice from behind me. I spun around in my chair to find Clark gazing at me intensely from over the counter.

"Oh, um I'm fine, is there anything I can help you with?" I replied, trying not to wince and failing as I sat up straighter in my chair.

"Are you sure? And no I'm just here to visit Kara," he replied, lowering his glasses a seconds to give me an intense once over. I shivered as I realized superman had X-ray vision and could probably see all my injuries.

"Well I think she's upstairs talking to James right now, but you're free to go on upstairs, I said as I pushed a button on my desk that opened the elevator.

"Thanks," he said, giving me a wink before the elevator doors closed.

*Time Skip*

"Doesn't bother you that I got top credit on this one, does it? Not even a little bit?" I giggled at Kara's words but clamped a hand over my mouth when I noticed Clark smiling at me. That smile should be illegal.

"Honestly, I've never been more offended. Really, I'm flying home right now. No, I'm very proud just to be working beside you. In fact, I was thinking that I'd stick around for a little while."

"Really?"  Kara said, turning to look at her cousin.

"Yeah. I didn't realize how nice it was to be around someone like me. You know, just to be with family."

"Me, too."

"And I know everything there is to know about Krypton from the archives in the Fortress. But I really like it when you tell me stories about home. You make it real. So, maybe while I'm here, you can tell me some more about my parents."

"Of course. I would love nothing more."

"Good."

"Oh my god you two are so cute," I said, though I did my best to disguise any jealousy in my voice. It would be nice to have family but oh well..

"Hey, I'm not sure if you're interested, but there is an armored car robbery on Sixth and Stagg," Alex said.

"Up, up?"

"And away."
