2. Mate?

I've lived in Michigan my whole life. I should've found my mate by now, but like people say, 'Good things come to those who wait.' Or however the saying goes. I'm in the training room throwing knives at a body dart board 7 in the morning. My Beta Alpha, Travis, walks in.

"Jesus man. How are you awake? I'm still a bit sleepy?"

I chuckled.

"He is just a morning person Trav," Skylar said (Travis' mate).

"Aren't you, Alpha?"

I smirked.

"Remember Sky. Just call me Kai when we are home. Out there you call me alpha."

Her faced turned red with embarrassment. Travis chuckled and Sky punched him. "Oh you guys! Can we go to FLUID Coffee Roasters?! I always get my coffee there."

"Sure," Travis and I say in unison.

We walked in and sat near the food section. There are lots of werewolves here. "So about Bar—" Travis was interrupted by the door opening again. A girl. Looks around my age. I felt an electric pulse for a split second.

Is that our mate, Kai?

I-I don't know. Probably not, Zack. She's human. Can't you smell it?

Yeah I can smell her. That doesn't make sense though. Maybe it's just a false alarm. Don't worry about it dude.

And our link was cut off.

"Alpha. Are you alright?" Sky asked.

I nodded. She was— no is beautiful. Gorgeous even. What am I saying?! She's not my mate. Although she is. How her hair just falls onto her shoulders, her pink lips, her eyes. She sits there eating her croissant and drinking her coffee. She looks elegant. I wonder if she notices me staring at her?

"Do you know who she is, Alpha?" Travis asked me.

"No. I don't think so. I felt an electric pulse for a split second. It couldn't be her. She smells human. She is human."

"Wait. The necklace around her neck. It's a crescent moon. Your mother said something about it. I just can't remember," Sky said. "You're right. Should we find out Alpha?" I nodded my head. The girl gets up and bumps into the waiter. Some coffee spills onto her pants.

"Oh my god. I'm so sorry. Let me help you clean up," the waiter said. Then, I heard her voice.

"No it's fine. No worries. I should be sorry. Do you know where the bathroom is?" Her voice is beautiful and soft.

"Yeah. Yeah. It's all the way in the back," the waiter said.

"Thanks."

It's been ten minutes since she went in there! "Sky go see if she needs help," I said. She nodded and headed towards the back. After a minute she comes back. She sighs and sits down. "Well?" Travis said. "I went into the bathroom and she wasn't there. So I asked a lady and she said that she went through the back door. She never went into the bathroom. Do you think she knows?"

"Probably. Let's go talk to my mom and see what she knows," I said.

We walked out and headed home. My house is on top of a hill with the woods surrounding it. When we walked in I see my father, Bryson, in the dining room reading the newspaper, while my mom, Natalia, is cooking. "Hiiiiii Mrs. Atkinson!!!" Sky yelled as she skipped into the house. Mom poked her head out and then squealed like a little girl. "Hellllllllooooooooooo my children!" She said as she hugged Sky. I rolled my eyes. "Really mom? You see us everyday." She shot daggers at me. If looks could kill.

"Hello Kai, Travis and sweet Sky," my dad said. "What is it honey?" My mom asked me.

Travis, Sky and I looked at each other. "You might want to seat for this," Travis said. We went into our conference room and sat down. "Well we were at a cafe and this girl walked. I felt an electric pulse, just for a split second, but she's human. Its probably nothing, but she had a crescent moon necklace. It looked familiar. She bumped into a waiter and got coffee on her pants. Sky went to the bathroom to see her and found out she never went there. She went through the back door. Do you think she knows anything about us?" I said.

They both looked at each other. Then, at me. Mom started to explain. "Honey, that crescent moon necklace belonged to the alpha of the Crescent Moon pack. And the alpha was a woman, named Lea Petrova. She and her husband were both werewolves, but there child ending up being a witch, werewolf and vampire. Known as the Tribrid. She probably did a spell, so no one can know what she is. I know that her pack was attacked and she ended up being the only survivor. I have a feeling that someone was after her. Probably still is. But listen carefully. You have to get her before someone else does. Find her. She is your mate, Kai."

Mate! She's our mate Kai?!

I-I guess so Zach.

What are you waiting for let's go find her!

I cut off the mind link.

"Do you think she felt it too Mom?" She looked at me hesitantly.

She sighed. "Probably not. And even if she did, she probably just got scared."

Scared? Of me?! I have to find her.

"Do you know what her name is?" I asked.

They shook their heads.

I stood up and gave out orders. "Okay Travis find out more about Lea Petrova and her pack. Sky find out if this girl has any friends around. Also get the rest of the pack to track her." They nodded their heads and we headed out. Time to find my mate.
