Chan was awake, but he hadn't opened his eyes yet. Something didn't feel quite right, but he didn't know what and it felt rather uneasy, almost queasy.
The room felt stuffy but cold, and when Chan's eyes opened nothing felt like it was normal. Everything unarranged and out of place, his mind in jumbles.
His room was exactly how he left it when he went to bed, but something just didn't feel right. As if he were a character in a video game and someone else was controlling him.
There was a tap that became significantly louder for no apparent reason. The drips raising in volume after each fall.
Chan got out of bed, aware of how shaky his legs felt. The bathroom was where the tap was, but it wasn't just dripping, it was turned on full and it took some effort to turn it off again.
It was quiet, too quiet as Chan stepped out of the bathroom. The tapping had ceased and the silence was rather unnerving. He felt lost despite being home and he had no idea why.
The door to Hannah's room seemed unnecessarily heavy and once he finally got it open he paused.
The bed was fully made, but it wasn't Hannah's covers and the more he looked around, the more he realized the room was devoid of any furniture.
He checked Lucas' room next, but it was much the same. In a panic, he sprinted up to the top floor, only to discover everything was gone, every one was gone.
"Mum" he tentatively called out but received no answer, only the sound of his own heartbeat and shallow breaths.
He began to make his way to the ground floor, but continuously felt more perturbed after every step.
Once he got to the bottom of the stairs he realized that there weren't even any indoor walls, just one big room. However, what was in the room scared him the most.
There, stood the little boy, the family from Hyunjin's house, the headless man, and countless other faces that he knew weren't real people.
He reached for the door and sprinted out, only to stop in his tracks as soon as he realized what was going on.
There was a multitude of people outside, all covered in series' of injuries and lacerations and to top it off, they were all staring at him.
As they all made a move closer he turned back to the house, only to discover that the ones that were inside were now out, and everyone was circling in on him.
He couldn't take it, he couldn't breathe and he didn't know where his family were. As they got closer Chan squeezed his eyes shut and held his breath. Hoping for everything to just come to an end.
Sweat ran down his head as he bolted up, immediately evolving into a panic attack.
Clammy hands gripped onto the metal beneath him as his chest clamped together, causing a struggle for breath. Everything was dark and his eyes wouldn't adjust no matter how hard he tried, blinking away fog and tears that wouldn't stop cascading past his cheeks.
It was starting to actually hurt, the lack of air entering Chan's lungs was starting to panic him even more as tears incessantly tumbled down his face, causing it to go red and blotchy.
Eventually, Chan figured out that the fresh air was helping tremendously and he managed to catch his breath again, taking a minute to calm down and wipe the tears away.
Fresh air?
It was only then that Chan realized he wasn't in his room, he wasn't in his house.
