Rachel's P.O.V~

"That's a lot of hypotheticals, Cory."

The both of us were en route to the church Cory visited, making a quick pit stop before we headed to the airport. He wished to drop something off for a food drive they were having.

Meanwhile, we ended up engaging in an interesting conversation. We were talking about certain aspects of our future, the both of us having successfully danced around the idea of marriage within this conversation.

He shrugged, "Fine, then I don't see what's wrong with talking about the 'hypotheticals'."
The separate silver necklace with the cross pendant dangled from the rear view mirror, front and center. Ever since I met Cory it was there.

He continued, "Hypothetically, years from now- the Sundays that I go to church; our children would come along."

"Well, I know usually that uhm- in most families the children end up following the mother's religion.
And since I'm an atheist, our 'hypothetical' children wouldn't exactly have to go to church."

Cory's head kind of shrunk back as if befuddled, but he kept his eyes on the road. "Okay, first of all- That's just a trend, it doesn't necessarily mean that every household automatically does that; or it's set in stone exactly."

The car came to a stop at a red light.
He exhaled as if lost in thought, "Second of all, you always said that my positivity.. an- and charisma is so refreshing and great or whatever it was- But all of that is because of this."
He pulled out the second necklace he wore from beneath his shirt, also containing a cross. "-And what it means to me.
Hypothetically, would you not want that for our 'hypothetical' children?"

My eyes stared way past the buildings insight as my mind provoked the thought.

"I-"
So would it be bad if they ended up like me?

No, that's not what he's saying.

I guess he's saying, if they were taught the way he's been taught.. in this, faith ..maybe they'd be more..
encouraged,
to end up atleast half as positive and patient (amongst other things) like their dad.

I smiled, "Hypothetically, I don't think I mind if they went to church. Not to say I don't care- but more so to say: 'I like the idea of my 'hypothetical' children going to church with their dad."

The lights were green again and the car pulled off.
He replied, "When they're old enough maybe then they can decide-"

Compromise.

"Hold up-" he paused, "why'd you say that as if you don't plan on coming along?"

"Because I don't."

I looked at Cory who'd went mute, without any particular facial expression on his face. A couple seconds later he pressed his lips together.

"What's up?" I questioned.
He asked simply, "So is that your final decision on that?"
I kind of attempted to laugh it off, "Well.. yeah. I won't go."

He turned another corner in silence.
Okay..
"Change of topic.
Who did you say we were meeting on the third day?"

"We're meeting a friend of mine from highschool and his fiancé," he grinned, "Essentially... we're attending their wedding."

"Woah, woah.. you didn't mention that WEDDING part in the explanation earlier. What am I supposed to wear??
Nah we gotta go back home bruh-"

He responded optimistic as ever, "Sucka, you really think I was gonna leave you out to dry like that?
Don't worry-
Imma hook you up.
