Chapter 14

Rachel's P.O.V~

We found ourselves sitting beneath the night sky. Cory's arms were wrapped around me as we remained in the seat off of the stretch. The both of us hadn't moved since the conversation ended. My head was pressed against his chest. I could hear his calm heartbeat right beside me as we remained enwrapped in each other.

The water rippled below us as the white light from the moon shimmered across its surface. The stars continued to shine above us, this act of stargazing with Cory wasn't foreign. It was a moment of shared comforting silence in which we allowed the cosmos to entertain us.

Just then I felt a singular drop of water fall on my arm. I only questioned the occurrence when another one soon followed in succession. "Hey, do you think it's gonna rain?"

Cory squinted his eyes as he looked back and forth for a moment. "I don't think so." I settled back in.
Only five seconds passed after this statement when all at once I started to hear the sound of rain falling against the water in the distance. The sound grew louder and louder and before we knew it this instantaneous shower had befallen us.

"ACK!!" The swing immediately started to swing back and forth once the both of us started to move.

"Wait, wait," I said as I began to laugh. The rain continued to beat down on our heads, completely soaking us. He laughed, "I don't remember it being this hard when we climbed in here!"

Cory got out first amidst all of the laughter but the swing teetered due to the momentum of him pushing off of it to get onto the ledge.
I brushed my wet hair out of my face, as one of my hands clung to the rim of the seat.
Cory stuck his hand out to me once he was on his feet but not before losing his footing for a moment due to the wetness of the wooded area.

The both of us giggled as he attempted to steady himself. I continued to swing within the seat like a pendulum. My clothes were dampened and started to feel heavier.

He stuck his hand out again, his wet curly hair now stretching past his forehead.
The sight of Cory's wide grin as I waited patiently for the swing to draw closer to him was a captivating one to say the least.
He grasped my hand and started to pull me out.

I squealed when I felt as my feet came into contact with the ice cold water below us. This made Cory pull me up even faster than before, which then caused us to fall untop of each other with a loud "THUD".

The both of us erupted into laughter as the water rained down my backside.

"Let's gooo!" I said nearly breathless once I came to my senses. After a rather jittery jaunt across the wooded stretch the both us only really picked up speed when we were back on the grass.

We crashed back inside the villa having finally escaped the shower. I flicked the water off of my skin as there was enough that you could hear it hit the tiled floors. Cory shook his head before running both of his hands over it. "We were wondering where you two lovebirds were off to," Olivia laughed.

Joshua added, "Looks like you two went for a dip." I responded, "Yeah.. something like that." Cory and I shared another laugh.

"I'm gonna go take an actual bath," I announced. Cory responded, "Yeah imma meet you there-"
Olivia started, "Wait, uh- Cory if you could help Joshua bring the pool tables from the back in front here?"

"Yeah sure." Joshua tossed him a towel as I went ahead and made my way inside.

Cory's P.O.V~

I rubbed my head and my shoulders with the towel a bit before eventually placing it on the floor across where Rachel and I entered. The rain started to come down even harder than before as we heard the sound of thunder outside. Olivia for some reason went further inside, leaving Joshua and I alone.
