Rachel's P.O.V~

He had no more words to say.

We didn't speak for the rest of the night, and neither for the day that passed. Joshua and Olivia were off on their honeymoon and Adrianna stopped coming around.

It wasn't long before it was our last day in Barbados. We'd be flying back tonight.
I'd just gotten off of a call with my mom, preferably leaving her oblivious as to what was going on. Once I hung up it showed me just how far we'd drifted apart. Before she'd always be able to tell when something was up, but now, things were different.
Many things were.

Cory opted to sleep in one of the many spare rooms, avoiding me like the plague. There was nothing I could do about it. I thought it was best to give him what he wanted; to obey his wishes.

But as this day had finally approached, my concern was undeniably on the rise.
What would happen if we went home like this?

I'd checked us in for our flight later tonight and was seated outside in the living room.
It was around twelve in the afternoon when I saw him make his way to the front door.

I wanted to know where he was headed, but I didn't wish to press. I looked on anxiously as he paused at the door with his back turned.

Is he going to tell me?

After a couple seconds longer he turned the doorknob and left. I sat there frozen as I felt the wind hit my face as the door closed shut.

Okay..

I had this sick feeling in my stomach ever since our conversation, but I just knew there was nothing more I could say.
It was up to him.

So I shoved down whatever extra nerves I had as I watched him disappear out the door. Telling myself it wasn't my place to push right now.

It wasn't long before the sky started to grow dark. I'd let my admittedly depressing playlist distract me for the remaining hours of the day, even though every five minutes I was checking to see if he'd returned.

When seven o' clock arrived, that's when I started to become worried.

The dial tone repeated and repeated after I attempted to call him. He didn't pick up.

I exhaled as I considered my other options. My mind went blank as the worry set in.

Ah.

I dialed the number of the driver that was hired for our stay.
I asked if the gentleman knew where he was. "I'm sorry.. I haven't spoken to him today," he answered.

I sat down in the kitchen as I tried to think of where he could possibly be.
The newly weds had left the city, neither of us knew where they were staying.
Adrianna didn't exactly leave with any farewell.
We didn't really become friends with anyone else here.

I still had our driver on the line.
"I know this may sound strange.. but, are there.. any churches around here?"

~half an hour later

I'd walked the distance over to the nearest church. The large, towering, oak doors were wide open, the altar created in similar fashion could be seen in the distance at the end of the aisle which was lined with pews. It had a second floor of seats above that two staircases led to. Beautiful coloured glass decorated the surface of the podium, as coordinating cloths draped each surface.
His indistinguishable afro could be seen in the second row.

I breathed a sigh of relief. I took one step in but considered if to enter or not. Even as he was seated, his head was bowed. I didn't know if it were in thought or in prayer, either way it looked serious.
