Claire:
"You know if it wasn't me you would have gotten into a boat load of trouble for being caught in here?" My question seems to echo in the almost empty room and, along with the various dead bodies, makes the atmosphere momentarily eerie. Once I let go of the door it shuts behind me with an almost silent thud.
"Do you honestly believe that you caught me walking in here by chance?" He replies in a semi-attentive tone. Seeing as how he's still examining the dead body infront of him. Shaking my head I step father into the morgue.
Who in their right mind would ever want to be in here alone? I get goosebumps just walking past this place.
"And here I thought that I was a super spy that caught Chris Argent the hunter, with my ninja skills." I joke. However once I get a view of the body he's looking at I can't help but feel my lips curve down into a frown.
"Did you know her?" He asks, detecting my change in demeanour. I notice that he has what looks like a map in his hands, but he's doing a pretty good job at keeping it out of my line of sight.
"Sorta. She use to teach middle school around the time Scott and Stiles barely started going." I answer, trying to peak at the map in his hands as nonchalantly as possible. But to no luck as he folds it away.
"Wait, did you say she use to teach." He reiterates with a neutral expression clouding over his face. The man's lack of emotions makes me think that he's interested in the bit of information.
I nod my head and look at him suspiciously. "You found something didn't you?" My question comes out more as a firm statement. Chris pushes the table holding the body back into place and shuts the small door covering it.
"It's just the paranoia getting to you, Claire." His lips stretch into a smile and he moves to walk out - but I step infront of his path. "How are your wrists by the way?" Chris tries to continue on with the topic without being annoyed with my actions.
"I didn't become a doctor at twenty-one because I wowed the med school with a glorious rendition of the chicken dance." I quip, making the smile disappear from his face.
"And what makes you think that I'd tell you anything." His face is carefully composed with a mastered poker face. "Because I don't know you all that well to begin with." Chris' tone is somewhat, extremely pointed if I do say so myself.
"So you're saying that I'm one of your suspects?" I scrunch my eyebrows, probably looking like someone just threw glitter in my face while wearing a pigeon mask. So basically taken aback. "Right. I mean because it makes plenty of sense that I would have tried to ritually sacrifice myself."
Argent doesn't miss a heartbeat to reply. "It would make sense seeing as how right after Scott and the Sheriff saved you, someone else was killed. Almost as if you were betting that you'd get all the attention from everyone so that no one would be able to go and find the real sacrifice."
His expression remains calm and his eyes seem to not blink for quite some time as he lets his suspicion sink in.
"I'm a seer not a darach or an emissary." I narrow my eyes at the hunter but say nothing more and move out of the way. Chris remains in his place with a now look of mistrust.
"Prove it then."
Both of my eyebrows rise from the sudden request, and have to blink a few times to get them back to normal. "I'm different. I can only see into people's past and I don't want to invade your memories."
"I don't trust you so prove it." He repeats, his bright blue eyes are full of the decision already being firmly made up. I always thought it was just Jace's family that was crazy but now I think it comes with the whole 'job' of being a hunter.
