Claire:

"Alright, I'm back." The hand that lands on my shoulder is enough to send a burst of fear through me, and tip my empty cup over the counter top. I cringe once the loud, disruptive clatter of the glass breaking against the floor fills the kitchen.

"Dang it." I breathe out under my breath, and crouch down to pick up the larger pieces. Taking the time to calm my racing heart in the process. A dust pail and small brush are waved in front of me, and I gratefully take them all the while looking up to give my mom an apologetic look. "Sorry about that, mom."

I manage to brush everything up and dump the broken cup in the trash. "At least there wasn't anything in it. But remind me next time I'm in the same room as you that you scare like one of those little cute red pandas." She waves off the incident from her spot leant up against the counter.

The smile on my face grows, not wanting to wane much on the incident, more specifically the real reason why I've been so jumpy. "You're welcome for that, by the way." I had spent much of this morning, on these glorious few hours that I have off, showing my mom some videos of cute animals I had found. And if someone says that I am too old to be doing that, well I'd like say that they most likely do the same.

A loud thump from upstairs stalls our conversation.

"Hold that thought." My mom shakes her head before rushing up to tell Scott and Isaac, the only other occupants in the house, to tone it down.

"Bring down the hammer, Mom!" I yell out in a joking tone. Not wanting to miss out on her brilliant words I stay silent and strain to hear.

"You two supernatural boys. Don't test my entirely un-supernatural level of patience." She lectures both of them, making me snort in laughter. Not so long after she comes back down with the two teens behind her.

"Have a nice day at school. And don't be shenanigators!" I yell out as they leave, earning a goodbye from each boy. "A person who instigates shenanigans, hoopla, and all that jazz." I elaborate upon being given a confused look from my mother.

"Aren't my children so normal."

"I'm gonna act like there was no sarcasm there and say yes, yes we are."

Taking a sip of my cup, I look at Scott, take another sip, and still can't completely wrap my head around everything he just told me.

"Uncontrollable shifts? Hallucinations? And sleep paralysis? Oh dear, I'm gonna need some more books for this one." At the thought my brain begins to search for potential places that I can find said books at. Since the local library might not have them as up to date as I will need.

My brother goes to speak, but the front door to my place opens and we both look up from our spots in the living room. I obviously look a lot more frightened then he does, but it soon switches over to annoyance upon Isaac coming into view.

"Isa, do you not knock or do you like making people believe that they're going to have to throw a very nice lamp at an intruder?" I question.

Isaac huffs out a breath and goes to the nearest door, the one to the guest bedroom, knocks on it and swiftly comes back to take a seat next to me. "Now that that's settled." He begins to explain to Scott and I about how he just came back from stopping an arrow that Allison shot at Lydia. Needless to say that this day doesn't look to be turning into a good one anytime soon.

"Right at her head?" Scott asks in disbelief.

Isaac nods his head, and continues. "Almost right through it. And she keeps saying the same thing, that she keeps seeing her aunt."
