The next morning, I was the last to wake up. Nina, Jesper and Wylan all hugged me and were happy and calm knowing I was okay. Even Matthias seemed pleased. Nina half scolded me for leaving and I think I owe her more waffles because of it. The plan last night was for them to come get me so we could all go to the safe house also known as the hotel my father and Jesper's father were staying at which means that we now have to head there today. I panicked. Going back to that hotel was the last thing I wanted to do.

We spent the day talking about what happened last night. Nina and Inej were ambushed by Dime Lions, Wylan and Kaz fell through Van Eck's ceiling onto his dinner table, Inej fell twenty stories and Nina can raise the dead. There was a long conversation on the reason to why Nina could raise the dead.

It wasn't until night fall that we left the Island, the entire time in the gondel I didn't speak to anyone. I kept my eyes on the water but I could tell Kaz was looking at me. Watching me.

We split up on our way to the hotel, I went with Rotty and Kaz. Kaz didn't want to let me out of his sight. I kept my eyes low as we walked into the hotel only looking up when we reached the stairs. My eyes met with someone else's when I reached the top, he looked straight at me. "What are you doing back here? I told you I didn't want to see you," he growled lowly.

"Don't flatter yourself," I rolled my eyes, "I didn't come to see you." His eyes moved to Kaz as he moved to stand beside me,"I'd leave her while you still can she's the last person you want to be friends with."

Kaz spared him a firey glare before he motioned for me to follow him past my father. Rotty had already left. We both walked past him and I could feel his stare on my back, Kaz put an arm around the tops of my arms and lead my through the hall." Was that...?" He asked when we were out of earshot.

"My father? Yes," I replied softly.

I heard Kaz sigh before he knocked on a door, a few moments later it opened and a man with red hair and grey eyes opened the door. It was Colm Fahey, Jesper's father, he was wearing a long nightshirt with a coat thrown over it.

"The others are inside," he said wearily.

Colm asked us no questions, just pointed toward the bathroom and poured himself a cup of tea as we tracked mud and misery across the purple carpets.

Jesper looked up when we walked in, "what took you two so long?"

"We bumped into Ambrose's father," Kaz replied as he watched me slump down on the sofa.

"Saints, Vampress," said Jesper. "There's blood seeping from your gloves."

I looked down and there was indeed blood coming from my gloves and trickling down my wrists.

"Should I call a doctor?" asked Jesper's father.

"No!" we all replied in unison.

"Of course not," said Colm. "Should I ring for coffee?"

"Yes, please," said Nina.

Colm ordered coffee, waffles, and a bottle of brandy, and while we waited, Nina enlisted our help to locate some shears so that she could cut up the hotel towels for bandages. Once a pair had been found, she took me into the bathroom to see to my wounds.

"What even happened?" Nina shrieked when she took away the bandages Kaz had wrapped the prior night. My knuckles were bruised and bloodied and my palms were shredded.

"I got frustrated with my dad and ended up sending my nails into my palms, when I stormed out I punched a brick wall several times until Kaz found me." I explained how it happened while Nina began to restore my bandages, I didn't speak after that.
