The Battle Part 2

I woke up to Paul gently shaking me, he said "Hey Mads, Jake is running a perimeter real quick, Bella is still sleeping, Seth is outside, and I have to head down to the battle." I sighed sitting up and pulled him into a hug. I said "Promise me something." he said "Anything." I said "Don't get hurt." he kissed my head and said, "I will do my best to stay safe." I nodded and laid down as he wrapped the blanket tightly around me and Bella." I laid there cuddled into my sister for about 10 minutes when Bella stretched and looked at me, she said "Let's get up and get dressed." I nodded and we got up I dressed in this.

We walked out of the tent and Bella said "Hi, Seth." he panted a little at her and bumped me gently making me laugh, Bella said "Where's Jacob? Did he and Paul already..." Edward said "Not yet. At least not Jacob yet, Paul left after saying goodbye to Mads, Jacob's checking to see if the woods are clear before he goes." he wrapped his arms around her and Seth jogged off. Bella said "I'm really sorry about last night. I couldn't have been easy on you." I sat on a rock making a snowman as Edward said, "It definitely won't make my list of top ten favorite evenings." Bella said, "You have a list?" Edward said "All ten I spent with you. Number one is when you said you'd marry me. Mrs. Cullen." I fake gagged and said, "You two are cheezy as hell." Bella simply laughed shaking her head at me and said "This is the twenty-first century, I wanna hyphenate my name." Jake said, "You're marrying him?" Bella said "Jake... You knew he was listening?" Edward said, "He deserves to know." 

Jake went to the woods and Bella chased him saying "Jake, stop." Edward went to grab her hand and said "Bella, let him..." Bella was pissed so she said "Don't." he sighed and came to sit with me as she chased Jake into the woods. I said, "She didn't want him to know yet because she didn't want him to purposefully get himself killed in the battle." He said, "He deserves to know she has chosen me." I said, "I know, she doesn't see it but she is leading him on, but she doesn't see it because she doesn't mean to be doing so." He said, "Well, answer me this if Carlisle purposed before the battle would you have told Paul?" I said "Yes I would have the moment I saw him, but the difference between me being best friends with Paul and Bella being best friends with Jake is... the bond, Jake has had a crush on Bella since he was 8 and Bella was 10. Jake just doesn't seem to understand that Bella loves him, but she loves you more. Being Paul's imprint, he understands that I love him but I love him as a best friend, and yes I heard you and jake last night, and yes I was close to dating Paul. What Jake doesn't know because it was none of his business was that Paul and I were gonna date and he knew that if I ever saw Carlisle again, and if he still loved me then I would give Carlisle another shot."

I stacked the torso on my snowman and sighed "I love Paul, I really do, and Carlisle knows I love Paul, but they both know that I simply love Carlisle more. Whereas with Bella and..." Edward looked hurt so I said "What is it? Whats wrong?" he said, "She asked him to kiss her." I pulled him into a hug and said "Im sorry Edward." he hugged me back and said "Jacob ran off to the fight." he stood up to go talk to Bella. I finished my snowman as they had a moment, Seth joined me and laid at my feet as I built.  Edward and Bella came over and Edward said "It's starting... Jacob just got there. He's good... Jasper... back off... you can't be everywhere at... watch out." Bella said "Is Jasper alright? Edward..." Edward and Seth froze so I said, "Someone's hurt?" Edward said, "Seth, go." Bella said "Is it, Jasper? Jake?" I said "Carlisle? Paul? Edward seriously..." I was cut off as Edward yanked me and Bella behind him. He said "She's close. I can hear her thoughts. She knew we weren't there, but she caught my scent. She knew you'd be with me." 

Bella said, "She found us." Edward said, "She's not alone." I saw Riley Biers Edward said "Riley... Listen to me. Victoria's just using you, to distract me. But she knows I'll kill you just like she killed that innocent baby in January. In fact, she'll be glad she doesn't have to deal with you anymore." Victoria emerged and Edward grabbed my arm to keep me from moving after her as she said "Don't listen, Riley. I told you about their mind tricks." Edward said, "I can read her mind, so I know what she thinks of you." Victoria said, "He's lying." Edward said "She only created you and this army to avenge her true mate, James. It's the only thing she cares about. Not you." Riley glanced at Victoria who said "There's only you. You know that." Edward said "Think about it. You're from Forks, you know the area. That's the only reason she chose you. She doesn't love you." victoria said "Riley... Don't let him do this to us. You know I love you." Riley said "You're dead." and tried to attack, but Seth grabbed him taking a chunk out of his hand. Edward said "You can escape. You always do. But you won't get another chance like this again. You want them. You want us to feel the pain you felt when we killed James. When we tore him to pieces. When we turned him into ash. When we turned him into nothing."

Victoria growled and charged us, Edward intercepted her and they rolled down the hill. Seth got knocked into the cliffside and Riley ran toward us, I stepped in front of Bella and Riley threw me as Edward grabbed him, I rolled down the hill and crashed into a tree. Making pain erupt into my side, Bella rushed to me and kneeled by my side. I said "Bella... it hurts." she was crying with me and she said, "I know sissy, but don't worry Carlisle will fix you up." I said "Edward... is losing." she looked up and saw I was right, so she grabbed a sharp stone and cut her arm making all three vampires look over at us. All three rushed toward us and Seth grabbed Riley dragging him away as he screamed "Victoria. Victoria." she ignored him more focused on Bella's bloody arm. Edward killed Victoria, Seth killed Riley, and Bella tore a piece of my shirt off to tie around her arm trying to stop the blood. Edward just stared at us so I said "B, go to him." she walked toward Edward as Seth came to nuzzle me making me feel more pain, and I tried to stifle my scream making Seth whine. Bella said "Edward," Edward said "I didn't want you to see that. I'll get some bandages for your arm, but then I have to help your sister." 

He started for the tent when Seth barked causing Edward to look worried. Bella said, "Something's wrong." Edward said "Alice needs us to go. And now. We need to get Maddie moveable." they rushed toward me and Edward lifted my shirt to see my torso. Bella said "Why? What's happening?" he said, "Mads where does it hurt?" I put my hand on the pain and said "It also hurts to breathe." he nodded and said "Im sorry but we have to go and this is gonna hurt more." he lifted me making me bite my lip to not cry out, he laid me on my stomach on Seth's back. I closed my eyes as Edward grabbed Bella and Seth and Edward ran to the clearing. Immediately we were surrounded by all the Cullens and the whole pack. Carlisle said, "What happened up there?" Bella said "Riley got to her, she stepped in front of me and Edward just wasn't fast enough. Seth was still trying to get up, she was only trying to protect me." Paul said "She is always trying to protect you... and everyone else but herself."

I said, "Don't fight, I'm in enough pain as it is." Paul said, "I know, I can feel it." Alice said, "The Volturi is coming, the pack needs to leave and since Maddie is injured so does she." Rosalie said, "They timed their arrival well." Emmett said, "Probably hoping the newborns took a few of us out." Carlisle said "Alice is correct, the pack needs to leave. The Volturi won't honor a truce with the werewolves. I need to get Maddie to the house." Jasper said, "No Carlisle, I know she is your mate and you love her, but you need to be here when Jane arrives." Carlisle said, "Jasper she is injured, I need to be with her." Bella said, "Where's Jacob?" Edward said "There..." He started toward us but saw Leah charge a newborn as Edward screamed "Leah, don't!" the newborn spun out of her reach and grabbed her scruff yanking her, Jake tackled him but the newborn won by getting his arms around Jake and crushing his sides. The pack managed to tackle the newborn and rip him to pieces.

Bella shouted "Jacob!" Seth ran over to Jake while Carlisle and Edward followed, the pack shifted. Bella had one hand in mine and the other in Jake's hand. Edward Said, "Hold on, Carlisle is gonna take care of you." Carlisle said "The bones on the right half of his body are shattered. Maddie has some broken ribs, I don't know anymore until I examine them both." Jake said "Bella. Maddie." Bella said, "Jake, we're right here." Leah said "Jacob, you idiot. I had it." Sam said "Leah." Carlisle said "I need to set the bones before his accelerated healing kicks in. It's already starting." Edward said "We need to get him out of here. We're not gonna win a fight with the Volturi." Sam said, "We'll take him and Maddie back to Billy's." Carlisle said, "I'll be there as soon as I can." Bella said "Hang in there, Jake. We got you." he cried out in pain as the pack lifted him. Paul walked by my side holding my hand as they took Jake and me to the rez.
