Kabanata 2: Ignore

I am staring in the ceiling and still thinking over and over again what she has said earlier. I couldn't help myself not to smile about that. She definitely made my night special.

Nilingon ko ang phone ko nang marinig na may nag-chat. Kinuha ko 'yon sa ibabaw ng bed side table at binasa ang message.

"What would be your first step then?" Drei asked me. Hindi ko alam kung paano niya nahanap ang pangalan ko sa social media. I didn't even give her my surname.

"I actually don't know." I replied. Hindi ko talaga alam kung paano simulan ang lahat.

"Can I call you?" She replied again, asking for permission.

I agreed. I took a pillow beside me and hugged it tightly. I cleared my throat, when her name flashes in my phone screen. Umupo ako at isinandal ang likod sa may headboard. It took me a second to answer her call.

"Celestine..." I bit my lower lip, when I heard her husky voice.

"Inaantok ka na ba?" Imbes na bumati ay agad na tinanong ko siya. That was a wrong move of me.

"Nope." She chuckled. "Am I sounded like, a sleepy kid?"

"You actually sound sexy." I said, nodding my head.

Mas lalo siyang natawa dahil sa sinabi ko. "Please, Celestine. Don't make me like you." She said between her laugh.

I gulped. Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit biglang bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko dahil sa sinabi niya. I even held my chest to confirm it.

"Oh... should I be careful of what will I say now?" I laugh a bit, covering this strange feeling inside me.

She chuckled again. "I don't really mind if you will say such things. I was actually shocked, when you say those. Such an interesting woman."

I bit my lower lip. I cleared my throat. "I think, Jaime was just out of her mind, when she said those." Pag-iiba ko ng topic.

Naikwento ko kasi kanina sa kaniya 'yung sinabi sa akin ni Jaime kanina sa labas. Pati na rin ang pag-iwan ko kay Jaime noon. I thought she wouldn't understand my situation but, no. She understand my side.

"Nah. She always meant what she said. Now, I think the first thing you will do is..." she stopped to think, "to get her trust back."

Napabuntonghininga ako dahil sa suggestion niya. "Grabe, una pa lang mahirap na. Can I quit?" I chuckled.

She giggled. "No. There's no turning back. Bring back your long lost best friend." Tatawa-tawang sambit niya. "You need to explain everything first, Celestine. That's actually the first thing you will do."

I smiled. "Thanks, hon." I mocked her endearment to me.

"No worries, hon. I got you." Her voice became husky again.

"Oh, please..." I chuckled.

"Why? You found my voice sexy again?" Halata sa boses niya na naguguluhan siya.

"Yes, Ms. Landson."

"Damn!" She burst into laughter. "I thought my surname wasn't that good but, hearing it from you makes my surname a hundred times better."

I laughed a bit. "From now on, I will call you Ms. Landson. Noted." I said jokingly.

"But, hon sounded the best for me." I assumed that she was pouting her lips right now. "You should call me hon more often. I don't mind it."

"Okay, hon." I giggled.

"You should sleep now, hon. It's already past 12." She said. "Inaantok na rin ako."
