One thing that Kana noticed about Iwaizumi (besides his appearance) was that he apologized a lot. Whether he made an inconsequential mistake or did something relatively trivial, he would apologize with a concerned expression on his face. She often dismissed his constant offers of remorse, mostly because she knew that he was only being mindful around her. As for Iwaizumi's appearance, he had dark brown hair, olive-green eyes, and slightly thick eyebrows that had a slit on the right side. He was tall, tan, and he had a muscular build, probably from his training and experience as a soldier.
Kana and Iwaizumi have been by each other's side for almost three months and wherever she went, he would be right by her side. He was often reserved, quiet, and solemn - they never discussed anything that wasn't related to Kana's responsibilities or duties as a princess. Even now, as they rode in a carriage on their way to the Vaceres Palace, they didn't say a word to one another.
Kana was invited to meet with King Washijou, the ruler of the Vaceres Empire. Normally, she would be accompanied by more than thirty soldiers but Iwaizumi was careful not to attract unwanted attention to the Princess especially since her parents' death. He decided that it would be best to travel with the Royal Guards which consisted of his five most trusted companions. They also brought along Kana's handmaid, Mei, to help the princess with daily tasks. Oikawa, Kyotani, and Kageyama rode on their own horses as Kunimi and Hinata rode and at the front of the carriage with Mei. Iwaizumi stayed inside the carriage with Kana, as it was his duty to be at her side at all times.
Kana stared out the window of the carriage and sighed. The ride was bumpy and jarring, making her feel lightheaded and nauseous. It didn't help that she couldn't stop thinking about what King Washijou had to say, especially because he was the most respected and feared ruler among the five nations in Solaris.
Two kids frantically jumping up a tree suddenly caught Kana's eye.
"Stop the carriage!" She shouted abruptly.
The carriage came to a halt and she slammed the door open, startling Iwaizumi.
"Princess-"
Kana stood up and without thinking, she rushed over to the two kids who were struggling to get their black cat out of the tree.
