Iwaizumi stared up at the bright sky, wondering what the princess was doing at that very moment, as he and Oikawa trotted along a rocky, uneven path on the way to the Alistela Empire. They would reach the jagged mountains in an hour or so (which would slow down their journey) but nonetheless, by nighttime, they should arrive at the Alistela Palace. They were glad that they had their horses with them to ease their travels.
"What are you thinking about, Iwa-chan?" Oikawa wriggled his eyebrows, a slight smirk creeping up on his obnoxious face, "A certain... woman, perhaps?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Iwaizumi glared at him.
"You seem to be in deep thought..." His best friend chuckled, "I'm wondering if it has something to do with Princess Kana..."
"I'm thinking about her safety..." He stated, "I trust Kageyama and the other guards but I can't help but worry about her..."
"You mean you can't stop thinking about her?" Oikawa teased, causing Iwaizumi to roll his eyes.
"I know what you're trying to insinuate, Oikawa, and you're wrong." Iwaizumi said as he furrowed his eyebrows tensely.
"What?" He blinked innocently, "I don't know what you're talking about..."
"Princess Kana is someone I need to protect because it's my job..." He murmured, staring straight ahead at their path, "She's a princess, and I'm just..."
"A lowly knight?" Oikawa finished for him, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
"... Yes, exactly." Iwaizumi grimaced.
"I, for one, don't think that the Princess cares all that much for titles and social standings..." Oikawa smiled, "It's possible that she sees you as more than her knight, you know."
"What? Like as a friend?" Iwaizumi scoffed in disbelief, "Princess Kana is probably just being polite."
Oikawa groaned as he buried his face in his hands. His best friend may be an intelligent, intuitive man but he sure was an idiot! He could tell that the Princess adored Iwaizumi, and he couldn't fathom how Iwaizumi couldn't see that.
