The next day I got an invitation to a masquerade party. So yes, that means it's Halloween time. And I'm quite excited. Bit here's the thing; I need to find a way to sneak out and then come back in with out getting caught. And boy did I have a plan.
The party was tonight. I had gotten the invitation by email yesterday. So my first task was to disable the ankle thing. That was easy. Then I dug through my clothes and suprisingly found a black gown. And with a little more digging, I found a lacey black mask to go with it. I already had a black pair of heels so I was all ready.
The only thing was sneaking out. Which was kinda easy. I waited till Steve went jogging, Tony, Bruce and Reed were in the lab, Clint and Natasha were doing some kind of mission, Susan left to run some errands and Johnny...Well I don't really know what Johnny was doing. Oh well it doesn't really matter.
And when the time was right, I left. But the only problem was was that I had to get dressed there. I had my makeup and stuff on, and I had a small bag with all my stuff in it so all I had to do was get dressed.
When I arrived, and snuck to the bathroom, I had this horrible feeling. The feeling that they would realize I was gone, and come looking for me.
That was when I realized I had left the invitation sitting on my bedside table. Crap. Well this sucks.
I finished putting on everything and walked out of the stall. At least I looked good. I slipped on the mask knowing that even if they did come to find me, they wouldn't know who I was.
I hid my bag somewhere and left the bathroom. I found a few people I knew but we'll it's a freaking masquerade party, I'm not gonna recognize anyone immediately.
As I was just grabbing a glass of wine, someone came up behind me.
"Can I have this dance..." he said with a smile.
"Um...sure." I set down the glass and took his hand. No, I didn't know who he was but hey, no one really knows who anyone is.
As we started dancing, a smirk grew on his face.
"I know who you are Natalie." And I immediately knew who he was. Jensen Williamson.
"What are you doing here." I said and his grip tightened as we continued to dance.
"Well it would be in your best interest to contact me later. I know you took some information off that harddrive. And I gave you a job, and I gave you a reward because I expected you to complete that mission. And if I don't get the rest of that information...it won't be pretty" before I could say anything he disappeared into the crowd. I sighed and looked around. I turned and started to walk out of the crowd I was in. It was quite crowded and gard to walk through. Would you people MOVE OUT OF MY WAY! I looked to my left for one second and ran into someone, some one quite large that is. "Oh I'm sorry about tha-" I froze when I saw who it was. Steve. This was the worst idea I've ever had.
"Sorry about that ma'am." He said. I looked at what he was wearing. He happened. to be wearing a regular tux that hugged him perfectly with a simple black mask. And man did he look good. My mouth actually dropped and then I closed it. "Um...uh uh er..." I didn't know what to say. I was, for once, speechless.
He squinted and looked closer at me. "Hey..." he started to say.
Oh crap. I'm in some deep shit now. All I could think was, don't recognize me don't recognize me...
He stepped foward and grabbed my arm. "You look so familiar...."
Oh I'm getting it now. Please... And that's when he reached for my mask.
