"Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future." ~ Robert Schuller
The transition wasn't easy, which was to be expected. We completely tore and took down the existing foundation, leaving us with nothing but ashes and a fresh beginning. We had to rebuild this World with renewed hope and a promise of a better future. A World that has a place for everyone, not just the privileged few.
The excitement over our victory wore down after a few months, but our determination never did. Our commitment to a better and unified World brought millions of people together to achieve that dream.
We continued working from the Insurrectors' HeadQuarters since we burned all other official buildings. Taika and Leon were by my side the entire time, the three of us became the faces of the Insurrection. My dad, Zahra, Anwar, and Mila stood behind us each step of the way, giving us counsel and guidance when we needed it. The Chiefs' kids, or the Insurgents, as they now call themselves and I personally think is a bit unoriginal, have been incredibly helpful to us in terms of dealing with laws and starting a new governing body. They are more familiar with how things work, and their knowledge and experience have come a long way when it comes to abolishing the old laws and designing new ones.
The first thing we did was abolish all of UniFed laws. Each and every single one of them. And then we made new ones. Laws that protected people, and not terrorized them. As well as laws that would save our environment. After all, we can't really build a new World if we don't have one to inhabit in the first place.
Not everyone supported our new laws. Not everyone supported our abolishment of the old laws either. There will always be those opposed to change. Change terrifies people, even if it is for the better. Change brings about a lot of uncertainties and unknowns. It challenges old ideas and comforts that make us feel like we have little control. If there is anything people hate the most, it's feeling like they do not have control over their lives.
So, we gave them a little control back. We gave them voices and empowered them to let their needs and desires be known. To share their dreams with us and help them achieve them. Instead of dictating their lives as UniFed did, we listened. We listened to their needs and their concerns, and then we found solutions together. It took me a while to realize this, but you don't have to be a perfect leader or a perfect ruler. You just need to be able to listen and have compassion. That's it.
We delegated tasks amongst ourselves. It wasn't too hard to find people who were more than eager to help us. Everyone wants to leave a mark on this World. To make an impact and improve the lives of generations after us.
Hope is a tricky thing. It can have the will to change hearts and keep them alive, but it can also blacken and wilt in a heartbeat. Regardless, if you have found even a sliver of hope you hold onto it like it were a lifeline. And never let go.
