"We fought, they surrendered, and we survived." ~ Alan Gunner

It has been ten years since our Insurrection and I think it's safe to say that we are doing well. That the World is doing well. Every country now has its own president, elected by the people. These presidents all work together as Presidents of the World and represent their countries. We are still an open World without borders and we do still use an ear chip for fluid communication. We no longer have Unidentified Citizens or Unaccountable Natives. Everyone, no matter who they are, is a citizen of this World. Our crime rates are at their lowest, and it's a wonder to see people prosper when they follow their own dreams.

Dad went on to become president of the United States and Zahra president of Palestine. Taika, Leon, and I are on Presidents of the World board of advisers but have since been taking our own steps to pursue our dreams. The three of us went back to school to study the fields of our interests. Leon went into cybersecurity, I studied architecture, and after lots of thinking, Taika ended up doing history education. Leon now works at a major cybersecurity firm that he started from the ground up, Taika teaches history classes to primary school students, and I started up my own architecture company.

Leon and Leila finally got married and have a three-year-old baby girl, Mia. Taika is focusing on her career and claims she has no time for love, but we all suspect she found someone. I met my beautiful wife at the grocery store when we both reached for the same loaf of bread, a year later Diana and I were married. We now have two children ages seven and five. Our oldest is Ava, named after Diana's mother, and our youngest is Alex, named after my brother.

We opened up a new Space program and named the first rocket that went into orbit Alexander. It was the least I could do to commemorate him properly. He deserved nothing less.

Today, the World is celebrating its ten-year anniversary since the Insurrection. Ten years of freedom, justice, and hope.

Taika, Leon, and I each take our places by the stage to deliver our annual speech. When it was time for me to go I squeezed each of their hands and stepped up to the podium.

"We fought, they surrendered, and we survived."
