Chapter 16

Deepak

Shawn came in this morning to pick Nala up for work and I must admit I'm not very fond of him. He's so close to her and it makes my blood boil. Everytime he touches her, hugs her or even walks with her, my hands automatically clench into fists.

I know they are childhood friends and I shouldn't be telling her who she should hang out with, But I get this weird feeling everytime he's around her.

Even Arjun. He's my business partner and a really wonderful guy. But with her, it should be me. Only me. I should be the one holding her, I should be the one walking with her and hugging her.

But will that ever happen?

I sighed and got dressed for work. I had an important business meeting today with Mr. Kinsley. He's the one client who invests a lot in us and this closure was important.

What I'm not looking forward to is his daughter, Jessica.

She always accompanies her father to all our meetings even though she doesn't understand shit about what we discuss. She just sits there and flirts with me, making me really uncomfortable.

Everytime after the meeting, she comes to me trying to make a move. She's tried kissing me one too many times even after directly telling her that I'm just not interested.

Especially now, when my eyes are already on a certain woman I can't stop thinking about.

Nala is gorgeous in and out. She lightens up the entire room just by being there. She bring the energy into everything. The fun, laughter, positivity. She's a ball of sunshine.

But I'm scared I'll lose her once I get close to her.

I smiled thinking about her as I drove to our office.

Arjun was already there setting up the place for this meeting. Mr. Kinsley was due to arrive in 20 minutes.

"Why do you have that goofy smile on your face?", He asked lifting his eyebrows at me.

"I'm just happy I guess", I shrugged looking into the papers.

He grinned. "Is a certain gorgeous woman the reason behind this smile?".

"Yeah, me!", I heard an annoying voice which immediately wiped the smile off my face.

"Hello Jessica", said Arjun giving a fake smile.

"Hello Deepak. Looks like you missed me", she said walking towards me placing her hand on my chest.

"Jessica", I nodded acknowledging her and pushing her hand off my chest.

"Mr. Kinsley. Glad you made it", I heard Arjun state. I walked past Jessica and shook hands with Mr. Kinsley.

"Shall we start?", I asked taking a seat on the chair.

Jessica sat opposite me, leaning forward showing her cleavage that I was least interested in.

I barely looked at her. My full concentration was to finish this meeting and go back home to Nala.

Everytime I thought about her, I smiled.

While the meeting was still going on, my phone rang. I ignored it and continued listening to Arjun who was stating the final details about the plot.

My phone rang again immediately and I looked up to see it was an unknown number.

Who could that be?

When my phone rang for the third time, I excused myself and went to the corridor to pick the call.

"Chahar", I said placing the phone to my ear.
