Chapter 9

Previously on The Prince's Knight:

Onyx nods and reaches down to touch the water, cupping some in his hand and pouring it onto his head.

Tatsuno chuckled softly before going to the kitchen to get tea.

Onyx leaned back and basked in the sun, smiling slightly with his eyes closed

Tatsuno came back and set the tray next to Onyx. He pours a cup and hands it to Onyx before sitting down next to him.

Onyx smiles and takes the cup, sipping it with a hum. He set it down on the matching saucer and looked into the distance. "Why did you do it?"
Tatsuno glanced at Onyx "Do what..?"

Onyx kept his eyes forward and took a deep breath "Why did you save me?"

"Onyx, you're my lord and I serve and protect you. But I care about you more than you know and I can't stand seeing you hurt, especially when it's my fault.." Tatsuno looks down at his feet.

Onyx blushed and looked at Tatsuno "What do you mean when you say 'I care about you more than you know'?"

Tatsuno sighs "I constantly worry about you and I would do anything to make you happy" he looks back at the smaller one.

Onyx looked forward again and took a sip of his tea. "I also care about you Tatsuno. And because of that, I blame myself for the cuts on your cheek and shoulder. If I had fought back.." He trailed off.

"You couldn't and they're not severe. They wouldn't have come if I had stayed with you. What happened, happened and I don't want you blaming yourself. Besides you have to prep for a competition as well as I" Tatsuno said with another sigh

Onyx nods and sighs as well "I guess you're right.."

Tatsuno poured Onyx more tea before changing the subject "So since I have such a deep voice, how am i gonna talk to people. And I know nothing about being a lady. All i know is knight stuff and dancing"

Onyx thought for a moment "We have a week to train you. Practice trying to talk in a higher voice and I'll teach you how to be a lady. We have a week to pull this off"

Tatsuno stared at Onyx before trying his best to talk in a high pitched voice. He failed miserably, his voice cracking badly. He burst out laughing.

Onyx laughed and set his cup down so he wouldn't drop it "Oh boy, we're gonna need all the time we can get!"

Tatsuno blushed slightly, embarrassed "Hey, uhm we never talked about what would happen when i win..? People would expect us to get married since you will choose me"

Onyx blushed hard and looked away "Yeah.. It seems that way.."

Tatsuno chuckles at a thought and then says in a loud voice "Princess Consort Whatever my name is gonna be has mysteriously turned into Sir Takao. Sir Takao is now a Prince Consort..?" He laughs softly and leans back.
