Chapter 18

Previously on The Prince's Knight:

Tatsuno smiles and looks back "I love you too Onyx" He then yawns and closes his eyes "Im gonna sleep now.." Onyx yawns and lays his head on Tatsuno's chest, passing out quickly. Tatsuno chuckles softly and holds Onyx close as he passes out himself.

-Time Skip to the Day of the Competition-

Tatsuno was all dressed up, He carried a knife in his boot and he clutched a bundle of papers and a pen. He follows the other ladies into the ball room. He had been here before for lessons but now it was all decorated up. He saw Onyx, The King, and The Priest all at the front of the ball room. Onyx sat on the throne next to his father as the ladies came in. Onyx pretended to be bored out of his mind.

One at a time the ladies were introduced to Onyx. "Lady Evangeline!" A lady with natural red curly hair came up in a green dress.

She curtsied "Your highnesses" She smiles at Onyx

Onyx nods and waves his hand "A pleasure"

"The pleasure is all mine" Evangeline leaves to join some of her friends

A little later it was Tatsuno's turn "Lady Suna!" Tatsuno walks up and curtsies. He didn't say anything though and just smiles

"Lady Suna cant speak, but she's excellent in writing, hence the papers and pen" Said the announcer.

Onyx nods and smiles "A pleasure to meet you Lady Suna"

Tatsun nods. He curtsies again then goes to a chair and sits. After a while all the ladies were introduced "Now the priest will explain the competition and its rules!" proclaimed the announcer.

The priest cleared his throat and walked forward "You will go through a series of tests to prove you are good enough to be royalty. First we will test your posture. The lady that balances the most books on her head wins, the one that does the least will be disqualified."

Tatsuno flinches 'Fuck this is alot more difficult then i thought' He looked at Onyx with a worried face

Evangeline smirks 'I'm gonna win this competition' Instantly the ladies began to chatter

Onyx smiles at Tatsuno and mouths 'you got this' before turning to his father who was talking to him about something. Tatsuno nods slightly in response to Onyx. The priest cleared his throat "Ladies, let round one begin!"

"I volunteer to go first!" Evangeline exclaims and raises her hand.

The priest nods "Go ahead"

Evangeline comes up. She was wearing heels. She picked up a few books and put them on her head "I will need help putting the next ones on my head, if you could please?" She looks at Onyx and smiles. Onyx nods and slowly gets up from his throne, limping over to her and adds two more books on her head. "Thank you" Evangeline had about five books on her head. She slowly walks about keeping them balanced. Tatsuno shivered, instantly despising this girl. Onyx watched and glanced at Tatsuno, seeing how nervous he was. He gives Tatsuno a reassuring smile.

Tatsuno smiles slightly, 'I guess I'll go next..' He stands up and walks to the front. Evangeline finishes up and sets the books down. She curtsies then goes back down. Tatsuno curtsies then comes up onto the stage. He looked at Onyx wanting help with the books. He grabs three and puts them on his head one at a time, Onyx grabs three more and helps put them on Tatsuno's head. Tatsuno smiles softly and makes sure they are balanced before walking around. He did good but he also had the advantage of boots. Onyx smiles and watches.

Evangeline gasped "How can someone beat my balance?!" After Tatsuno finished he set the books down and curtsied. He smiled what would be considered a beautiful smile. He had to win the priest and king over. He then steps down and smirks at Evangeline. Evangeline huffs. Soon other ladies went and none of them could go past three. One had such bad balance, she hurt her ankle going up the stairs and couldn't participate.

The priest smiles "The winner of the round is Lady Suna. Now we will go onto the next round. In this round we will be testing your table manners. Everyone sit down at the table. As you eat and talk amongst each other and Prince Onyx, the king and I will observe" Tatsuno was thankful he won but was slightly nervous of the next round since he was not to speak to ask for things. He found a seat and sat down at the table. Onyx sat down in the only open seat, next to Tatsuno. He smiles and starts to eat. Tatsuno blushes a bit and smiles back. All the girls kept asking Onyx questions at once and he did his best to answer them all, being polite. Tatsuno stayed quiet and was polite with his eating and table manners. After he was done eating, he wrote a little note to Onyx and patiently waited till he had a moment. He lightly touched Onyx's arm and smiled before handing him the note. The note simply said 'Thank you for the food'

Onyx smiles and looks at the paper "Yes, of course. I myself didn't make it but I will be sure to tell the chef you said that personally" Tatsuno smiles more and nods. He then kindly excused himself to clean up a bit. Evangeline smirks and does the same, following Tatsuno without him being aware. Onyx continued to eat and talk to the ladies.
