The week came and went much to Sophie's surprise there were no more onset issues. Chace kept to himself only occasionally giving side eye to Sophie. She wasn't complaining better than seeing his trousers by his ankles.

Sophie was relieved the weekend would be completely free of work. One condition of Chaces' was he had to be off every weekend. Sophie didn't care about the why Chace had that stipulation but it was a perk not having to deal with his antics.

She was certain it was probably to go to a party or get into some debauchery off set. She tried to push the thoughts of Chace out of her mind. His behaviors were of no concern to her.

Mark was still busy with planning and readjusting the shoots for the following week. Meghan's new list of demands did complicate things. With Mark preoccupied and stranded with no vehicle Sophie thought it would be a great idea to explore the town within walking distance.

A mile down the road was a quaint little town. Sophie loved these nostalgic stuck- in -time towns that still existed. Phoebe grumbled the majority of the walk up as she wasn't always the biggest fan of forced exercise in the heat.

The town had a mom and pop restaurant, an ice cream parlor, grocery store and at the very end was a Karaoke bar. Sophie chuckled about how random it was to have a karaoke bar in the middle of nowhere.

Phoebe's dismay over the heat was immediately lifted when she saw the sign for the ice cream shop. The door chimed as they walked in and they were greeted by a short stout red headed woman with a beaming smile. With such a small town Sophie and Phoebe probably stuck out like a sore thumb.

The woman was overjoyed to meet Phoebe in all her gingery freckled glory. Sophie realized that gingers were like that when they met, an instant connection. The owner let them sample every flavor and she invited them to her farm where the dairy for the ice cream came from. Phoebe was thrilled for the potential adventurous prospect.

After sampling all the ice cream they were quite stuffed but took a pint to go. Between the catered meals and now homemade ice cream Sophie was going to need to develop a diligent work out regimen if she was going to still fit into the clothes she packed. The problem was Mark was too busy to babysit and she didn't have anyone else she trusted. Maybe Katie? They were becoming fast friends.

With ice cream in tow and a free night in a small podunk town it seemed like a great night for a girls night. She texted Katie on the walk back if she would be interested in coming over for a girls night of movies and manicures.

Katie was all too eager to get out of her packed trailer and provide some space between her and her roomies. Sophie had stopped at the grocery store and got some food to make dinner for the three of them.

Sophie couldn't remember the last time she had a girls night. Even before her husband's death she was so preoccupied with work and family she never had much of a social life. Thomas was an introvert so there wasn't much entertaining that occurred in their home.

Sophie pushed the anxiety down and avoided the urge to cancel. She needed to forge ahead with her plans for long lasting friendships and transparency. So far it had served her well and she was making great strides.

Sophie let out a breath and a smile when Katie arrived wearing pajamas. She had a  messy bun and no make up on but she came bearing her manicure set. Sophie was thankful that Katie was on the same brainwave as herself.

They ate homemade pizza and laughed at old 90s movies that were on cable. They binged on ice cream til they felt sick. Phoebe enjoyed her manicure and insisted on doing it for Katie and Sophie.

Phoebe did love art and much to their surprise she did a great job painting their nails. Sophie and Katie gave Phoebe complete creative control. Pink and black polka dots for Sophie and rainbow nails for Katie. After the manicures Phoebe was exhausted from her week and went to bed.
From her bag Katie brought out her hair supplies causing Sophie's brow to rise, "What's that for?"
"You think I could let my friend walk around with that hair," Katie jested.
Sophie gaped pretending to be offended. Katie wasn't going  to give her a choice and immediately started in on her hair.
That gave Sophie the opportunity to discuss the Chace drama onset.
"So I headed to the trailer cause I thought you were in there but what I saw was Chace's pants down by his ankles!" Sophie covered her eyes in horror.

Katie was laughing uncontrollably. "Stop it! NO! What did you do?!"

"What do you think I did! I froze!"

"Oh I bet you did freeze staring at his naked back side," Katie wagged her eye brows.

"Oh no! Stop it! It was not like that at ALL! Please he is not even my type!"

"Girl he is EVERYONES type! That man is a gorgeous specimen. Plus he is actually pretty sweet when you get to know him."

"What? Are we talking about the same guy?! He was such a jerk to me!"

"He has a lot going on right now. I won't excuse his behavior but he is deep down a good person. I have worked with him before. I'll never forget. He needed a haircut and it was my first big gig on a movie set. I was so nervous to do it that my hands were all sweaty and clammy that when I was using clippers on his head I accidentliy slipped and made a huge bald patch."

Now Sophie was laughing at the idea of Chace having a strip of bald ruining his perfect image.

"I thought for sure I was fired. I cut his beautiful infamous red locks. He felt me do it and immediately laughed. He brushed it off and didn't care when I had to buzz his whole head in order to fix it. He told me 'it will grow back, don't worry.' The stylist was so mad when she saw him. She came to lay into me when he intercepted and stated that he had demanded that I buzz his head. He got into some hot water for that cause he had already shot several scenes with a different length of hair. After that incident he won my allegiance." Katie shrugged matter-of-factily.

"At least I know what side you're on," Sophie mocked sticking her tongue out.
"Stop! I like you both in equal measure."
"I am glad he has a different side to him. Maybe I caught him on a bad day. He thinks I ratted him out to Meghan," she shrugged, throwing in another mouthful of chips.

"I think he was just venting. You were the easiest and closest victim. I swear, give him another chance. He is pretty decent."

Katie and Sophie talked about exes, dating in this decade, and the future til it was entirely too late. When Sophie went to bed she felt lighter and happier than she had in a long time. She pondered which version of Chace was the "real" version.
